We are fundraising so we can give football shirts to kids who may not otherwise receive presents this Christmas.
Any football fan has childhood memories of the joy and excitement of pulling on a new kit. This Christmas, more families than ever before will struggle to afford gifts for their children due to increased financial worries caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Kitmas is an initiative that tries to help with this. They fundraise for, and distribute, football shirts to kids who may not otherwise receive presents this year.
Goal Diggers FC have teamed up with Kitmas because we want to make sure as many local children as possible have a present to open on Christmas day. These will be distributed by the Hackney Foodbank, who work with the communities who live in and around the area where we play.
Our target of £220 would give us enough to buy a football team of shirts! Any more we raise will be used to buy more shirts. There is no limit to what we can accept and we would love to get as many as possible.
Kitmas was founded by football coach and activist Paul Watson and his wife Lizzie, with support from stand up comedians Vix Leyton and Mark Watson (Paul's brother).

Goal Diggers FC is a non-profit club set up in London to make football more available and accessible to all women and non-binary people regardless of previous experience or ability. We play all over London, but train weekly at Haggerston Park.

Kitmas have appeared in a variety of UK press. You can find the article from the Evening Standard here, Sky News here and the Independent here. The main Kitmas Crowdfunder site also has more information here.
