The Global Challenge
Not every swimmer can make it to the Albania–Corfu crossing. So we created something for everyone.
The Go Overboard Global Challenge is a five-month swim fundraiser running from May to October 2026. Swim 1–3km, anywhere in the world - in the sea, a lake, a river, or a pool. Set up your fundraising page, complete your swim, and raise money for marine conservation.
No race. No qualifying times. Just a swim with purpose.
How it works
Sign up for £39. Pick your distance - 1km, 2km, or 3km. Swim it any time between May and October, wherever you are. Set up your fundraising page here on Crowdfunder and share it with your friends, family, and community. Every penny you raise goes directly to marine conservation.
You'll receive an annual edition Go Overboard Swimmer Kit with cap and tote bag - the start of a collectable tradition we plan to build on year after year.
Where the money goes
Go Overboard is a UK-registered charity (No. 1215619) working in partnership with the Conservation Collective and a network of local environmental foundations. We fund projects that protect and restore marine ecosystems - from monitoring dolphins and whales in the Ionian Sea to preserving Posidonia seagrass meadows and supporting research into endangered Mediterranean monk seals.
Since 2014, our swim community has raised over €200,000 for marine conservation, starting with just nine swimmers crossing from Albania to Corfu. Today that flagship event brings together over 100 swimmers from 20+ countries every September.
The Global Challenge extends that impact beyond one crossing, to swimmers everywhere.

When you set up your fundraiser, you can choose to raise funds for a specific Conservation Collective foundation working on the ground in their region. Whatever they raise through their page, they keep - 100% goes directly to their local conservation projects.

Who is this for?
Anyone who swims. Whether you're a competitive open water swimmer or someone who loves their local pool, this is for you. You don't need to be fast, you don't need to be experienced - you just need to want to do something meaningful with your swim.
About Go Overboard
Go Overboard began in 2014 when nine swimmers crossed the Corfu Channel from Albania to Corfu, raising funds for causes that matter. What started as an informal challenge has grown into an international community. We're a UK-registered charity working with the Conservation Collective and local foundations including the Ionian Environment Foundation and the Cyclades Preservation Fund.
