Aim

Feeding the future: Free mobile cookery workshops for Forest of Dean kids to tackle food poverty & replace convenience with life skills.

Why I’m Starting This Project

The Reality of the Modern Kitchen

As a mum in a two-income household, I know firsthand that the "cost of living" isn't just a headline—it’s a weekly battle. Despite working hard, we found ourselves struggling week to week. The turning point for our family was ditching the convenience trap. By moving away from processed, supermarket-reliant meals and returning to cooking from scratch, our health improved, our stress levels dropped, and our budget finally started to stretch. It was a wake-up call: we have lost the vital art of being self-sufficient.

The Disconnect Between Ground and Table

Living in the beautiful Forest of Dean, we are surrounded by nature, yet there is a heartbreaking disconnect. Many of our children believe food begins and ends on a supermarket shelf. They don’t see the link between the ground and their plate. While giant supermarkets report yearly profits in the billions, our neighbors are experiencing food poverty at record levels. We are paying for convenience with our health and our wallets, and it is our children who will pay the highest price if we don't intervene now.

Arming the Next Generation

My mission is to take a mobile cookery school directly to the heart of our Forest communities. I want to arm our children with the "survival skills" of the 21st century: the knowledge to understand where food comes from, the confidence to cook from scratch, and the ability to create nutritious meals that don't cost the earth. By teaching them to be self-sufficient, we aren't just filling bellies for a day—we are equipping them to beat poverty for a lifetime.

Your donation will go directly toward portable induction hobs, utensils, and ingredients to get our first 50 children cooking.

I am aiming to raise £1000 to kit out our mobile kitchen. Every penny goes toward high-quality, kid-safe equipment that can be used hundreds of times over.

The "Starter Kit" (£10 - £25)

£10 buys a "Prep Pack": A child-safe nylon knife set, a bamboo chopping board, and a vegetable peeler.

£25 buys a "Student Station": A heavy-duty mixing bowl, a set of weighing scales, and a set of stainless steel measuring spoons.

The "Cook Station" (£50 - £100)

£60 buys a Portable Induction Hob: These are vital for our mobile workshops. They are safer for children (no naked flames) and allow us to cook anywhere with a standard UK plug.

£100 buys a Full "Forest Chef" Set: This covers one child’s entire setup—induction hob, pan set, utensils, and a protective carry case for transport.

The "Big Impact" (£250+)

£250 covers the Initial Ingredients & Transport: This allows us to provide the first month of workshops completely free for the children, covering fresh produce and fuel to reach rural Forest locations.

£500 buys our Heavy Duty Storage & Folding Tables: Essential for setting up a pop-up kitchen in community halls or outdoor forest spaces.

Please don't feel obligated to donate these amounts, I understand money is tight and I appreciate any donation towards this cause!

We are holding a bake sale to help raise funds on the 22nd of February at the grill girls cafe and burger bar in lydney from 11am.
