Providing fresh, nutritious meals for those in need. Ensuring no-one in Edinburgh is isolated from good food during COVID-19.

 New stretch target

This money will allow us to continue our work sourcing, cooking and distributing good, nutritious food for Scotland's communities. Each and every £1.50 will feed one person with a nutritious, freshly cooked meal.

What are we doing?

Many people in Edinburgh aren't in a position to provide nutritious meals for themselves or their families due to the challenges presented by COVID. We’re going to ensure as many folk as possible have a one less thing to worry about by providing just that.

But we need your help.

Why are we doing this?

Having founded the Food for Good coalition in March 2020, we ended up cooking 75,000 meals for those in need during the COVID lockdown. This was an incredible journey and we were honoured to have worked with such incredible partner organisations and to be able to have supported people in a time that many felt helpless.

We are committed to supporting local growers and suppliers as well as providing work for displaced chefs and helping our local communities during this time.

We now support to a number of fantastic Edinburgh organisations including Niddrie Mission, LIFT, Fresh Start and The Venchie to provide meals to those who need a hand.

This work does not only support those enjoying the food but also gives valuable, paid work to the young, displaced chefs that work with us.

What’s for dinner?

Your contribution will help provide;

  • Locally sourced, seasonal fruit and vegetables (250k veg portions served in 2020!)
  • A range of dishes
  • Supermarket surplus diverted from landfill
  • Nutritious meat, often organic, from suppliers that give us an excellent deal
  • Local, free-range eggs
  • Nutritious bread from our friends at Twelve Triangles
  • Valuable, paid work experience for young, displaced chefs
  • Food boxed in compostable, sugarcane packaging

We would also appreciate it if you could share our crowdfunding campaign on your socials, to help us reach more people.

We thank you in advance for your contribution to ensuring that those in our community have access to the nourishing, locally produced, tasty food that they deserve.

Take care,

Steve, Kirsty, Marilyn, Ale and the team at EFS x
