Aim

Help us bring 'Finch' to life. A new non-profit concept for East Finchley, offering premium coffee and employment pathways for young people

Hi. Meet ‘Finch’- a brand new community interest project for N2.

By day, Finch will sell great coffee and pastries. Every year, over 40 local young people will go through our barista training programme, get a great reference for their CV, and introductions to partners for future employment.

In the evening, Finch will transform into a workshop and learning space. There’ll be at least 10 sessions a month, 4 of them run by young people; art, science, writing, travel, AI, chess, makeup, board games. You name it.

Finch will also be rentable to the community (at highly discounted rates) on Sundays and weeknights for non-religious, apolitical workshops or meetings.

My name is Jenny and I live in the area. My father died in May, having dedicated his career to the futures of young people in his career as a headteacher and founder of ‘Partnerships in Education International.’Dad always believed that if we’re getting it right for young people, we're getting it right in general. Finch will bring them all kinds of new opportunities. Now we need your help to get this off the ground.

1. We need start-up funding

This money is to get us on our way with the shop fit-out, legal costs, creation and provision of a barista training curriculum, website, and licensing and training costs. As a CIC, profits are asset-locked for community purposes, so you can be sure every penny will go back into making Finch a success for our local young people.

2. We need your skills, positivity and ideas

Do you know shopfitters, electricians, flower growers, olive oil providers, sign designers or anyone who could help making Finch a reality? Perhaps you could host a workshop? Or you might want to rent the space or attend an event? We’d love to hear from you.

Anyone who contributes will be fabulously rewarded from the selection below. Those of you who know me (and some who don’t) may know I played Boo in Fleabag. For any fans of the show, some of the rewards – cafe and guinea pig related – are for you.

Love and thanks,

Jenny Rainsford
