Aim

The Ribble Valley is stunning so I want to help keep it that way and explore it, what better way?! If you agree please support/join me!

🏃‍♂️ The Challenge

On 27 June, I’ll be running the full Ribble Way — 72 miles from the Source up in the Yorkshire Dales to the Estuary past Preston — in a single stubborn effort.

The Ribble Way is a long-distance trail following the River Ribble through some of the most beautiful and under appreciated landscapes in the North West. It starts up in the dales with some proper fell running before dropping into the valley where stiles, gates and cows will be the main challenge as it passes through Tolkien country.  It then joins the guild wheel around Preston for the flat and NOT fast final push and finishes just outside Longton.

Anyone is welcome to join me for a section of the 72-mile route along the way. Whether it’s a few miles or a short stretch, I’d love to share parts of the journey with friends, customers, runners, and anyone who wants to be involved.

☕ Why I’m Doing It

I’m Matt, founder of Field & Fire Coffee in the Ribble Valley.

It's too easy to take for granted the amazing place we live, It should be celebrated and enjoyed which is why I want to do this.  At the same time it also needs supporting so we can keep it as beautiful as it is.

This Challenge is my way of trying to get the maximum enjoyment out of the area and hopefully encouraging others to get out and enjoy it too.  In doing this run I think it's only right to support the trust as the work they do is crucial in helping keep the Ribble valley the beautiful place it is.

🌊 The Cause

I’m raising money for Ribble Rivers Trust, they are dedicated to protecting and restoring the River Ribble and its tributaries.  Their work to support the habitats and ecosystems within the Ribble Valley benefits everyone who lives or visits here.

Every donation helps protect and restore the river for future generations.

From clearing gravel beds to help increase salmon populations, improving water quality at Edisford bridge, to helping to remove the non native invasive plants, such as giant hogweed,  threatening our riverbanks and health their work helps improve the area for all.

🎯 The Goal

My fundraising goal is £3,000, with the aim of raising as much as possible beyond that if we can build momentum together.

Every donation — large or small — will directly support vital conservation work across the Ribble catchment.

£3,000 could help fund river restoration projects, habitat improvements, and wider conservation work that benefits both wildlife and local communities.

🤝 How You Can Help

If you can, please donate and share this page with friends, family, and anyone who cares about the Ribble and its future.

If you’d like to join me for a section of the run, you’re very welcome — it would be great to share parts of the journey together.  More info on this will come out on the Field & Fire social media page closer to the time if your keen.

Even a small donation helps turn this challenge into real environmental impact.
