Aim

We are raising funds to build a new band rehearsal room and community hall.

Lydbrook Band have been supporting our community for over 100 years and have provided music tuition to local children for almost all of this time.  Our existing rehearsal facility is now too small for our brass band. We have a leaky asbestos roof, no disabled facilities and an out of date heating system.

Any money raised will be fully used to support the building fund. We have now been granted planning permission to commence work.

We have started fundraising and have 20% towards are target bulding cost of £200,000.

About {Lydbrook Band}

Lydbrook Band, from the Forest of Dean, was formed in 1923 by a group of coal miners, although records show there were bands in the village back in the 1850’s. 1764864105_band.jpg

2025 was a very successful year for the band, having competed and won First Prizes at the Oxford Association Contest, the Gloucestershire Association Contest and the Wychavon Festival of Brass.  At Wychavon, the band also gained qualification to the Spring Festival in Birmingham on the first weekend in May.  From January 1st the band returned to the Championship Section following a three-year spell in the First Section.

Lydbrook also has a Training Band which has grown in stature for over 35 years.   They perform at many community and charity functions in the area, and players range in age from 8 to 74.  The band has a good relationship with our local primary school, where pupils are provided with instruments and tuition free of charge.

The Lydbrook team is now working hard to raise funds for a new band room and community hall.  Although the band has had its own rehearsal premises for almost 80 years, the present one is now too small and has a leaky asbestos roof!  The new band room will have full disabled facilities and a green energy system fit for the next generation of brass players who will proudly represent the band.
