Have you ever wanted to create something but didn’t know how? You didn’t know where to start? Or you didn’t have the confidence to take those first steps? Maybe you just want to learn a new skill? Make it Yourself supported by Ellipsis, will provide all of that in one.

I am very excited to announce a new strand of my business that will align with Ellipsis brand ethos “Make it Yourself”, launching September 2022. 

Sewing is a traditional art form that we are at risk of losing due to our mass-produced industry and throw away society. Ellipsis believes in creating products That you will cherish for years. Join us on a mission to slow fast fashion...

Make it Yourself

My plan is to create boxes containing pre-cut fabric and fastenings for you to create the item of your choice. The boxes will contain QR codes that will allow you to access the online Make it Yourself community,  step by step tutorials, as well as  a help and advice forum. You will have the opportunity to connect with likeminded people and share your love of sewing. Make it Yourself aims to  create a safe space to ask questions and get inspired by others. If you don’t have access to the internet there’s no need to worry, we will also provide paper instructions in each box. With a variety of different items to choose from the boxes are available to all ages and levels of sewers, we especially welcome beginners. Having all you need to Make it Yourself in one box.

About Me

Designing is something I've always been passionate about. As a young girl, watching aspiring designers on Project Runway; I never imagined 15 years later it would be me! Business Owner of Luxury Womenswear Ellipsis...

I am a First Class BA Hons Fashion Design & Production Graduate. After graduating I became one of four Scottish Modern Artisans for Yoox Net-a-Porter and The Princes Foundation.

The experience bridged the gap between education and industry, strengthening skills to design and manufacture garments to High-End Luxury standard. Sustainability was at the core of the partnership, educating the importance of sustainability within the fashion industry. The skills and importance of sustainability has greatly influenced Ellipsis as it is today.

Along my journey I had the honour to present Ellipsis to His Royal Highness Prince Charles, Camilla Duchess of Cornwall and Kate Duchess of Cambridge. I was able to gift both the Duchess of Cornwall and the Duchess of Cambridge with a handmade Silk Ellipsis bag along with a Silk hair accessory for Princess Charlotte.
A strong believer in everything having a meaning and purpose, the name derives from my lucky number three. An Ellipsis is the set of three dots at the end of a sentence, more is yet to come…

I am also a charity ambassador for UK's leading Eating Disorder charity Beat (beateatingdisorders.org.uk).  I understand the difficulties faced with mental health. Sewing has been proven to improve mental health... 

Mental Health Benefits of Sewing.

It is sometimes referred to as the ‘feel good neurotransmitter’ and ‘a natural anti-depressant’... It can make us feel happy, lighten our mood and be more motivated and enthusiastic for things. If you combine this dopamine effect with the feel good factor when you have made something and the associated self esteem boost, this can then further increase happiness levels."*

My project is part of the Creative Scotland Crowdmatch - we are 1 of 20 shortlisted creative projects in Scotland - that have the opportunity to win a share of £75,000 in match funding, up to £10,000 per project.

Our beautiful scarves are handmade by myself from end of roll fabric from Scottish Woollen Mill Johnstons of Elgin which aligns with Ellipsis sustainability mission. The scarves are all blends of natural fibres Cashmere and Merino Wool that have been manufactured here in Scotland. All are packaged in our branded rigid boxes.

Make It Yourself for Someone You've Never Met

You may already know how to sew or maybe now is not the right time. Why not support an individual that wants to learn but may not have access to the facilities & materials. With this reward you can purchase 3 Make it Yourself boxes that will be kindly donated to individuals from different community groups over Scotland. Giving someone you've never met the chance to learn how to sew. We will send out yourself a personal thank you for your kindness

Four one-to-one classes - two hours each

This reward is unique to Ellipsis for a very limited time, four one-to-one classes from myself for two hours. Any age, any level of skill set, everyone is welcome to learn a new skill. Location will be based within South Lanarkshire, dates will be discussed and confirmed with pledger privately. Please note these classes will be held after August 2022.

Signature 100% Silk Dress

Handcrafted in Silk Satin backed Crepe this dress creates movement and fluidity gliding across the skin. With draping sleeves and high split cuts flashing the underside of the luxurious silk fabric, its enough to hold the spotlight in any room.

This dress is part of Ellipsis Collection "All Barre One", my first ever Luxury Collection. All garments within the collection have been manufactured in 100% Silk sourced within the UK. Designed & manufactured by myself inspired by my previous dance training background, the collection features ties, gathering, flashes of skin and most importantly capturing the fluidity of movement echoed by the body in the delicate luxurious fabrics inspired by dance.  

Support a Community

This is a very special reward, by pledging you will be donating FIVE sewing machines to a community group & a three hour class from myself. Our first group is Waist Not Want Not East Kilbride, an independent charity who's aims are to alleviate poverty, disadvantage, isolation & loneliness in the community by providing a safe space where people can come along earn new skills, meet friends etc. The more pledges we receive for this reward the more communities we can support across Scotland!
