EARL SOHAM VILLAGE HALL

The heritage:

Our lovely vintage Village Hall celebrates over 90 years of hosting community events. Since opening its doors in 1934, there have been so many receptions, plays, meetings, dances and elections..and more, during the tenure of twenty Prime Ministers and the reign of five monarchs... most recently celebrating the Platinum Jubilee of Elizabeth II and the Coronation of Charles III.

Earl Soham Village Hall Renovation Fund:

Sensitive renovation of the original building is underway and fund-raising achieved for an eco-friendly sustainable heating system and replica external doors to keep the heat in and the weather out ! Local company, Earl Soham Joinery Ltd. crafted three sets of replica doors to modern standards, replacing the old original doors. Newly-installed infra-red heating now ensures year-round warmth for our community hub, but this comes with high running costs, so the task now is to seek grants and funding for solar panels for the long south-facing roof which requires replacement of the original asbestos tiles. A huge task ahead for 2026: we need your help !

See our Crowdfunder project for a new roof and eco-friendly solar panels; a modern community hub for a lovely vintage hall

Applying for grants and seeking donations is the task ahead. Café-in-the-Kitchen continues to be a popular and successful fundraising iniative, running alongside a programme of events attracting a wider local audience. Join us for fresh coffee, teas and delicious home-made cakes at the next fundraising pop-up café.

Village life is so important to preserve and by default so is the village hall. My parents village lost their village hall to a housing development. This was a classic short term gain but long term pain situation. This is a great cause.
