Aim

Raising the funds to pay for our film production "Dyfi Groms".

What are we fundraising for?

Trailrippers Project CIC is running this crowdfunder to gather the necessary funding for their second film, "Dyfi Groms" and raise money for our "Dyfi Groms Fund" which helps local young riders in the Dyfi Valley with the costs of coaching and equipment. Production of the film started in April 2024 and is now finished. Your support will help us pay for this project, share it with the world and start giving back to our local community.

"Dyfi Groms" tells the story of the diverse mountain biking community in the Dyfi Valley around Machynlleth (Mid-Wales, United Kingdom) through the eyes of the young riders.

Following a few key people, the 37 minute documentary film explores themes of mental health, friendship, community and connections across generations. Through heartwarming and inspirational storytelling, it also shines a light on the specific challenges of girls in rural areas, as well as young racers aiming for a spot at World Cup level racing.

The film's direction was shaped by the news of one of the young riders taking his own life and dedicated to his memory.

Directed by Ashley Leung from Tiny House Creatives, "Dyfi Groms" promises to be as successful as the Trailrippers' first venture into film making: "Flow". Directed by Andy McCandlish, filmed by Andy and Ashley and produced by Endura, "Flow" has won multiple awards, was viewed across the world and continues to inspire audiences. "Dyfi Groms" has already picked up a number of film festival selections (more news to follow soon!).

Who are we?

Trailrippers Project CIC was started by young brothers Nathan and Ruben de Vaux, aka the "Trailrippers" on Instagram. After finding Mountain Biking by chance, they have been making waves since 2016 in spite of encountering many barriers. They started Trailrippers Project CIC to introducing mountain biking to a more diverse public and bring others along in the sport they love.

Ashley Leung / Tiny House Creatives is a wizard behind the lens and has the amazing ability to connect with people to help them tell their story authentically and naturally. Through beautiful cinematography and artful editing, Ashley brings these inspirational stories to life with heartfelt compassion.

Why?

The bilingual film (Welsh/English) explores the roots of mountain biking in the Dyfi Valley and illustrates how it became a world-class riding destination, winning the "Best UK Riding Destination" (Singletrack World Awards 2023).

By showcasing the stories and challenges of the local young people, "Dyfi Groms" aims to illustrate how mountain biking can play a pivotal role in the lives of young people in rural areas and give them purpose and connection.

Your donation will help us pay for the production of this project and start giving back to our local community through our "Dyfi Groms Fund".
