Aim

We're producing a Queer interpretation of Purcell's Dido & Aeneas for Omnibus Theatre's 96 Festival on 27th June - and we need your help!

Could you help the Curious Opera Company run our next groundbreaking/innovative queer opera? We're breaking down barriers in opera - but we need your help.

Donate today and enable our next performance, a queer interpretation of Dido & Aeneas at the Omnibus Theatre on 27 June.

The Curious Opera Company was born out of a desire to challenge the traditional landscape and limitations in classical music. Our mission is to give developing professional singers the freedom to work with new narratives and gender-neutral casting to transform opera. We want to continue creating a safe and inclusive space and encouraging a positive working environment for all musicians. We really care about telling stories that resonate with life today - pushing back against the belief that opera must be elitist.

Following on from a successful run of The Magic Flute – A Re-Imagining in 2023, we are now looking to produce our next show, a Queer interpretation of Purcell’s Dido & Aeneas. We are excited to announce that we will be part of the Omnibus Theatre’s 96 Festival, producing two performances on 27th June – and we need your help!

With your support we can create dynamic and meaningful performances which show that a new, Queer take on a classic work can make opera more accessible and enjoyable for both performers and audiences. We want to use this opportunity to create long-lasting professional relationships and help us build towards on the way to seeking potential future funding to continue our work on a larger scale.

How you can help:

Any donations are appreciated - no amount is too small. If you can spare us the cost of a cup of coffee, it would make our day!

Your support means we can pay our production costs, including rehearsal spaces, props and costumes. Most importantly it would mean that we could provide payment for all our artists, which is one of our biggest, and vital, costs.

If you can't help financially but can offer in-kind support or can share this page with somebody who can help - we hugely appreciate that too!

Let's create, innovate and celebrate opera!
