Your support makes a difference
Our aim is to grow the global community of Double Above-Knee amputee snowboarders, 'DAKS' to Rise together, Dream together and Ride together
DAKSCom is a UK-based Community Interest Company created by and for Double Above-Knee amputees who want to access snowboarding, build confidence and connect with others facing similar challenges.
Over the last few years, we have built a supportive community of riders who share experiences, knowledge and encouragement. Through lived experience, peer support and practical coaching insight, we help individuals discover what is possible beyond injury, illness and trauma.
While our community started in the UK, our vision is much bigger. We believe every Double Above-Knee amputee, wherever they live, should have access to people who understand their journey and opportunities to participate in adaptive snow sports.
This project is about taking the lessons we have learned, over the last 25yrs and sharing them with others, helping to inspire and support the growth of DAK communities around the world.
Rise together. Dream together. Ride together.

DAKSCom has successfully brought together a growing community of Double Above-Knee amputee snowboarders in the UK. Now we want to take the next step.
We are raising funds to help us connect with riders, families, coaches and organisations beyond the UK and begin supporting the development of a global DAK snowboarding community.
In December 2026, DAKSCom will attend the Hartford Ski Spectacular in the United States, the largest adaptive winter sports event in the world. This provides a unique opportunity to meet people from across the globe, share our experiences, learn from others and introduce more people to adaptive snowboarding.
Our goal is not to build one organisation that spans the world. Instead, we want to encourage and support the independent growth of local DAK communities in different countries. We believe people are strongest when they can connect locally while also being part of something bigger internationally.
By sharing what we have learned in the UK, we hope to help others create opportunities for participation, friendship, progression and meaningful competition within their own communities.
Every donation helps us start conversations, build connections and create the foundations for a truly global network of DAK riders.

Financial assistance is vital to our project and any monies raised will be used to it's full potential allowing DAKSCom to
1. Attend the Hartford Ski Spectacular and in doing so raise the bar on adaptive snowboarding and raise awareness that this sport is accessible to people with Double Above Knee amputations.
2. Assist with the costs of manufacturing the Carbon Fibre Bindings that DAKSCom have designed and continue to develop.
3. Allow DAKSCom to assist others who would otherwise be unable to have the opportunity to explore the sport of Snowboarding.

Today, some Double Above-Knee amputees have never met another person living with the same level of limb loss. As a result, people can feel isolated and disconnected from opportunities that could improve confidence, wellbeing and quality of life.
DAKSCom has shown what can happen when people come together. Through community, shared experience and adaptive sport, individuals gain confidence, build friendships and discover opportunities they may never have thought possible.
This project aims to extend that impact beyond the UK.
By connecting with riders and organisations internationally, we hope to encourage the growth of independent DAK communities around the world. Each new community creates opportunities for local support, recreation, mentoring and progression while strengthening the global network as a whole.
Our long-term vision is not to create a DAK community in every town or city. The reality is that Double Above-Knee amputees are a relatively small and widely dispersed population. Instead, we want to help establish sustainable communities at a regional, state or national level, ensuring that people have access to meaningful peer support, opportunities to connect, and pathways into adaptive sport without feeling isolated by geography.
Your support helps us share knowledge, create connections and help more communities take their first steps towards making that vision a reality.

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out on our socials and website!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
For example Jock Bell and Former members of The Royal Green Jackets raised over £2000 during a reunion with an auction.
