Streatham Youth and Community Trust will provide a daily lunch to local children and families struggling during the COVID-19 crisis.
Streatham Youth and Community Trust have been working with children and families in Streatham since 1946. We deliver youth work, play work, young carers homework clubs and school holiday provision for families facing disadvantage. During school holidays we provide a service called Fit & Fed which comprises of 6 hours of fun physical activity and a healthy cooked lunch. We deliver this because many children go hungry during school holidays, especially those children who usually rely on a free school meal each day. As the schools have been forced to close and as families are facing increasing hardship due to the impact of COVID-19, we want to provide a lunch time service to families in need. We will prepare and deliver the lunches daily to families referred for the service through Early Help, Lambeth Social Services and local charity St Michael's Fellowship and to families who are already known to us. Our team is made up of qualified, enhanced dbs checked and committed people ready to deliver this project immediately.
