Our Ask

Together Equal is a social enterprise with the driving mission of creating equality for everyone, across gender, economic, social, race etc 

We create content which enables everyone to have meaningful conversations around identity, feelings, equality, inequality, diversity, inclusivity and social issues.

To date we have helped over 3500 school children age 9-14 across the UK. Our cards are used by over 30 schools, Sports coaches and QPR Trust.

Within this we have a number of content offerings:

- Conversation cards - We currently offer 2 different packs of conversation cards for families with kids age 7+ which are designed to enable meaningful conversations. 

- School programme - a free 10 week programme for primary and secondary school programmes where our experts go into schools and work with classes to help kids understand the world, find their voice, build self confidence and self esteem and raise their self-expectations

- Corporate Workshops - newly launched as a fundraising vehicle to pay for the school programme

Students get a workbook to take home which enables them to share what they’re doing with their parents. 

Together Equal also have a number of charity partners who buy the cards at cost and sell them as a fundraising item keeping all of the profits they generate for themselves.

Covid-19 has hit our funding hard - 95% sales of our conversation cards were through bricks and mortar retailers such as The National Theatre Bookshop and small independents like the Craft Coop and Hello Love, as well as via events run by our charity partners - Mums in Need and The Dash Charity. 

The Black Lives Matter protests in 2020 expedited our plans to create a set of conversation starters to ‘Talking about Race’. 

We have put together a task force including Zayna Ratty, Joanne Collins and Neve Taylor to develop a new set of 52 thought provoking questions to get the conversation started and we need your help to get the funding to produce these cards ready for sale when retailers reopen. 

Once we get these cards produced and selling they will fund a new module of our school programme where we will explore race and identity.

In addition to funding the physical production of these cards, we're looking for funding to enable us to build out our own online shop which would allow us to move away from using eBay and Amazon and the fees they take from every sale.  The more income we can keep within TogetherEqual, the more children we can support.

Our Philosophy

The world can change on a single conversation between two people.  Ideas, thought and feelings that are otherwise silent can ripple out in consequences to making real, powerful and positive change in the world.

If we lack the courage to speak out, we lack the courage to evolve. Silence stops progress.

Yet having courage to speak out and find your voice in your community your family and your workplace is hard for us all. At Together Equal we champion your voice, we include everyone, diversity is nature in action - our DNA , and we promote tolerance, acceptance and respect.

Our Mission

Our mission is to help young people find confidence in their voice, respect inclusion and embrace people of all backgrounds to create a new conversation for their futures in which they can live and work in harmony with each other. We deliver workshops in primary and secondary schools, helping these young people find their voice, build empathy and increase their resilience.

Our Story

We started with out conversation cards, 95% sales were through bricks and mortar retailers such as The National Theatre Bookshop and small independents like the Craft Coop and Hello Love, as well as via events run by our charity partners - Mums in Need and The Dash Charity.

Due to lockdown these options have been closed and our sales have dried up. This has had an impact on our future plans including the production of a new set of cards focusing on anti-racism. While we're already running an extremely lean business we really need help to continue with our work. We have been looking at alternative revenue streams including corporate workshops focusing on Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity but realistically this will take us 6-12 months to build up a pipeline of business.

We created our business as a social enterprise as we believe in being self-sustainable.

Our new corporate workshops, once they gain momentum will cover the costs of our school programme, together with the sales generated from our conversation cards.

Our Challenge Today

Covid-19 has asserted an unanticipated pressure on our cash flow. Further funding will enable us to improve our online presence and sell cards directly on our site which will improve sales. 

It will also enable us to begin work on our next set of cards focusing on mental health.

In excess of that, any additional funds will pay for us to run additional school programmes in Primary and Secondary schools across South London and Surrey supporting more children age 9-14.

The Future is in Our Hands

Now, conversation has gone truly global. For the first time in history, we can create conversations about issues at the heart of our human existence and they spread at high speed around the planet, often while politicians are still posturing.

If we wish to avoid the violence and massive inequality of our century, it’s of the utmost importance to keep the conversation going - to overcome our fears and keep the channel open between us; to be willing always to engage in dialogue.

We can trace the entire existence of Silicon Valley back to a single conversation between a group of 8 frustrated and creative young men in 1957. Look how that led to a trail of world changing inventions that you are using right now.

In the words of Margaret Mead, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has”
