Aim: I am going to be raising awareness and funds for One Step Borders “Save Our Staff” campaign by walking Borders Abbeys Way during November.
You’re Doing What?!
I am going to walk the 68 mile length of the Borders Abbeys Way over the course of November 2023 to raise money for One Step Borders.
The Borders Abbeys Way stretches 68 miles in a circular loop around the beautiful Borders, connecting all of our major towns, much like how we as an outreach service connect the Borders through its young people and the support we provide.
Why One Step Borders is so important
I have been working for One Step for 5 years as part of a team of committed and compassionate staff. We provide much needed support, information and advocacy for young people's mental health as part of our mission to ensure young people have access to free quality support at a crucial time in their lives.
Funding Gap
Our current funding allows us to facilitate 97 hours per week of support hours, seeing 76 young people on average, but we are facing a significant funding gap due to increased competition for funding, and tighter limits on funding pots. If we cannot find the additional running costs, our capacity will be less than half of what it is right now.
How You Can Help
If you are able to help by donating to this much needed service, please consider giving what you can.
You can also help by spreading the word, sharing this post, offering to join me on any of the sections of the walk or be there to cheer me on and bring me dry socks and chocolate!
