We wish to introduce coastal rowing to HISC. To achieve this ambition we need to raise funds and buy our first Celtic Longboat.
Who Are We?
Hayling Island Sailing Club (HISC) is a members' club with a world-class reputation for dinghy racing, cruising, and boardsports. We are passionate about life on the water and are now expanding our fleet to include Coastal Rowing.
Why Are We Crowdfunding?
To introduce coastal rowing to the HISC program, we need to commission a new boat. We have already secured a significant pledge from Sport England and support from the Hayling Island Sailing Training Trust, but we must demonstrate our members' commitment to this new discipline by raising the final portion of the funds ourselves.
The Goal: A Celtic Longboat
We intend to purchase a Celtic Longboat, the gold standard for fixed-seat coastal rowing. These boats are rarely available on the second-hand market, so we are purchasing a complete, new package directly from the manufacturer in Pembrokeshire.
The £15,000 target will contribute toward the full setup: The Hull, Oars,Trolley, Road Trailer and Protective Cover
Once launched, this boat will allow HISC members to train and compete against neighboring clubs in Langstone and Chichester Harbours.
Who Will Use the Boat?
~ HISC Members: This is a new facility for our membership. Whether you are looking for a new competitive outlet or a fitness-based alternative to sailing, this boat is for you.
~ Prospective Members: We hope this addition attracts new rowers to join the club. If you are interested in our facilities, please visit our Joining Page or visit us during our Open Day on May 4th.
~The Thursday Club: Outside of member use, the boat will support our established community sailing scheme. This program introduces local children to the water through qualified instruction during the summer months.
How You Can Play Your Part
We have set out three clear ways to help us reach our target and get this project moving:
HISC Members: Secure your time on the water now. A £75 pledge equates to 10 rows, with smaller pledges available at £10 per row.
General Pledges: We welcome contributions from anyone who wishes to support the expansion of the club’s fleet and activities.
Corporate Sponsorship: We are seeking businesses to sponsor specific equipment, such as the oars or the hull. Please contact the club office directly to discuss branding opportunities.
