Clee Hill RFC: A Dream, A Legacy, A Call to Action
Twenty-five years ago, a group of passionate men from Clee Hill dared to dream. From that dream emerged the vibrant community hub we now know as Clee Hill Rugby Club. These pioneers, fuelled by passion and determination, cultivated not just a club but a legacy that continues to thrive.
In the club's infancy, two successful men's teams emerged, laying the foundation for the spirit of competition and camaraderie that defines Clee Hill RFC. Later, a new chapter unfolded as the daughter of one of the founding members ignited the spark for a ladies' team. Today, the echoes of that initial dream resonate in the laughter and cheers of children playing in the mini/junior section, many of whom are the proud offspring of those first trailblazers.
Membership statistics as per March 2024:
Mini and Junior section: 220
Ladies Section: 51
Male Section: 97
What sets Clee Hill RFC apart is its unwavering commitment to community and family values. It's a place where bonds are forged, friendships blossom, and everyone, regardless of age or gender, finds a home. The club's growth, a testament to its enduring ethos, brings forth new needs and aspirations.
Thanks to grant funding, two meticulously maintained pitches now stand as a testament to the club's dedication to excellence. The expert groundskeeping and constant maintenance ensures that these fields continue to meet the highest standards. However, as the club looks towards the future, new priorities have taken shape, outlined in a meticulous 5-year business plan.
Current Priority: A New Clubhouse
The club's immediate goal is to raise £100,000 by May 2024. An extraordinary opportunity awaits: RFU has offered a matching fund for a new clubhouse. This essential project includes state-of-the-art changing rooms, designed to accommodate players of all ages and genders. The vision extends beyond bricks and mortar; it encapsulates a commitment to inclusivity, modernity, and adherence to RFU specifications.
Priority 2: Floodlights for Evening Matches
With an eye on the future, Clee Hill RFC envisions evening fixtures illuminated by floodlights. While portable sets have been secured through RFU reduced pricing, the dream is to install permanent floodlights, unlocking the potential for thrilling evening matches. This priority, while not urgent, stands as a testament to the club's dedication to offering a comprehensive rugby experience. It will also allow for increased training opportunities during the winter months and could open up the club for wider use from the public.
How Can You Help?
The journey to fulfil these dreams is a shared endeavour. Clee Hill RFC calls upon its community for support:
As the club embarks on this ambitious journey, it invites all who have been touched by the magic of Clee Hill RFC to stand together, united by the dream that started 25 years ago. Together, let's build a legacy that transcends time, where every try scored, every cheer shared, and every contribution made becomes a chapter in the rich tapestry of Clee Hill RFC.
