🌍 A Vision for Cleaner Rivers and Sustainable Communities
Our initiative is built on a simple principle: communities thrive when water, energy, and environmental stewardship are managed together in harmony.
The Challenge:
Across the UK, rivers face increasing pressure from sewage overspill, stormwater surges, and pollution, while communities are also tackling rising energy costs and the urgent need to reduce carbon emissions.
The water industry is already working hard to meet these challenges of population growth and climate change; £Billions are already being invested in upgrading wastewater infrastructure and separating surface water and foul sewerage systems to manage capacity. However, this type of hard infrastructure upgrade takes time to install and commission. The scale and urgency of the challenge demands innovative and flexible solutions which are now available for us for rapid deployment in acutely affected locations across the UK.
Our Solution:
We’ve developed a multi-faceted, innovative system that is designed to complement, support and strengthen existing operations, adding immediate value where it’s needed most:
Protecting rivers – integrating with current upgrades and/or modifications, intercepting sewage overspill and stormwater events, capturing solids while allowing only clean water to safely return to the UK’s river network.
Delivering clean energy – harnessing renewable power to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
Turning waste into opportunity – transforming captured solids into useful products such as carbon-negative biochar
Strengthening communities – creating greener, healthier, and more resilient local environments.
The Vision Forward:
This is more than incorporating todays innovative technologies — it is a scalable, supportive, and collaborative approach to sustainability. By working alongside water companies and regulators, we can assist in keeping rivers cleaner, generate renewable energy, capture carbon, and deliver lasting benefits for people, nature, and the industry itself.
💷 How Your Support Will Be Used:
Every pound raised will go directly toward the final deployment of our initiative, including:
- Establishing a new cooperative / not-for-profit entity to develop the organisation and deliver projects. Appointment of an executive board and a board of trustees from across the industry and stakeholder / community organisations for the transparent management of the organisation.
- Engaging with Ofwat and UK water companies to secure support and identify & nominate the first installation sites.
- Engineering FEED (front-end engineering design) & feasibility studies bespoke for each identified site location – finalising the technical design and validating the solution.
- Administration & project management – coordinating agreements and keeping projects moving forward.
- Stakeholder engagement – building partnerships with regulators, water authorities, the industry, communities and businesses.
- Legal & compliance groundwork – ensuring full alignment with UK water and environmental regulations and standards
- Subject to take-up of this Crowdfunder initiative, we are planning to offer a reward to donors of a personal citizen science pack to test the river waters in their area to monitor the success of our projects. We envisage that participants would feedback the results of their test to a centralised database maintained by this new venture to track the improvement in river water quality over the coming years.
