Who We Are:

City to Sea is an environmental charity on a mission to prevent plastic pollution at source. We’re leading the transition from single-use to reuse, delivering campaigns and solutions with long-term impact.

We’re on a mission to prevent plastic pollution at source. Our planet-protecting campaigns are helping people take action for our oceans and turn the tide on single-use plastic.

We're the charity behind the award-winning Refill campaign, World Refill Day, Plastic-Free Periods, Switch the Stick and many more. Our team of behaviour change experts and environmental campaigners work with policy makers, businesses and communities to change the narrative from single-use to reuse.

What We Do:

1. We call for legislative change, lobbying policy makers to set ambitious and legally-binding targets around single-use plastics and reuse.

2. We raise awareness of the problems, championing the solutions for a move away from single-use to reuse.

3. We reinvent the norm in the market to make the transition to reuse lasts and meets people’s needs.

4. We deliver practical solutions to make refill and reuse more accessible, in collaboration with industry, local councils, campuses and other NGOs.

5. We inspire communities to take action where they live and embed meaningful behaviour change.

The Problem:

The overproduction and consumption of single-use plastic is creating a global environmental and humanitarian crisis. Plastic is not only polluting our planet, and contributing to the climate crisis, but it’s making its way into our bodies through the air we breathe and the food we eat. Plastic production and disposal, especially via incineration or landfill, disproportionately impacts communities of colour, low-income and indigenous communities by polluting the air, water, and soil that we need to survive.

The Solution:

We urgently need to shift from our disposable, single-use culture to a more sustainable, circular future, with reuse and refill at the centre. The good news is, we already have the tools we need to change the world. A reusable future is possible.

Our research shows that people want to reduce single-use packaging, but they can’t access reusable alternatives where they shop. We need governments to legislate mandatory standards for reuse to support industry to scale-up and meet growing demand.

We have the power to create a wave of change and show the rest of the world that the solutions to plastic pollution and the climate crisis already exist. We know the problem is complicated but the solutions don’t have to be!

Oceans and waterways around the world urgently need our help and we’re hugely grateful to our supporters for donating to City to Sea. With your support, we can reach help even more people live with less plastic and power the refill and reuse revolution.

Will you take action for our ocean today and donate to support our vital campaigning work?
