Not drown, (re) learn front crawl and raise money to protect a beautiful place that has been the location for many happy family holidays
I am raising money for Go Overboard a fantastic charity that organises an annual 3km swim from Albania to Corfu in aid of marine conservation in the Ionian Islands.
The swim is a personal challenge for me and the great women I'm swimming alongside. At the start of the year, we were "head-above-water" breaststrokers with the dream of transforming our gentle paddles into proper swimming. Fast forward through weeks of front crawl lessons led by our children's patient swimming teacher, numerous loops around the lake and the consumption of gallons of fresh/sea/chlorinated water, on 12 September we will set off from Albania and put our training to the test...
The endurance challenge of the swim will of course be offset by the beautiful turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea which we will be gliding / spluttering our way through. All the money raised by the team of 100+ swimmers will go towards protecting this fragile environment and so our "girls' mini break" is really for a very good cause.
