Aim
Build an extension to the current pavilion, to give more changing space and a better permanent home for equipment like the mower.
Who are we?
We are Aberdour Bowling Club. Established in 1891, our club has been at the heart of the village of Aberdour for over 130 years. The club is currently thriving and membership is growing.
Why are we crowdfunding?
We need to upgrade our facilities to accommodate all people who are using our club. Membership is growing and our competitions and events are typically fully subscribed. Our current changing facilities are no longer sufficient. We need to add some more changing space, and replace the old shed which currently houses playing and green equipment (like the mower). We have had plans drawn up, and the work will cost around £40k. The club is able to invest around £20k from its own funds, and is looking to crowdfund to raise the remainder.
The bowling club membership covers a wide range of abilities, ages and social backgrounds. An attractive aspect of our sport is that it can still be played by people of advancing years, and Aberdour boasts healthy numbers of retirement-age players. With an eye on the future the club also offers coaching and special events for primary-school age children. Membership of the bowling club is split evenly between males and females.
How we’ll spend the money raised
The money raised will be spent to pay a local builder to build the new pavilion, as per the plans we have had drawn up.
Community impact
A large number of local people now visit the bowling club, either to play or in a social capacity. We have a growing active playing membership, but also healthy social member numbers. The club hosts social and cultural events in the clubhouse throughout the year. One-off bowling competition events are also held regularly, including an Easter v Wester Bowls match (between the 2 sides of the village) on the 1st night of the Aberdour Festival!

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success! For pledges over £50 we would like recognise your generosity by adding your name to a contributors plaque which will be put on display in the new facility.
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
