Who are we?
We are one of the oldest hockey clubs in Nottingham and have been celebrating our 120th Anniversary in 2024.
Over the years, we have experienced great success in the sport and have fostered an open and inclusive environment for players of all ages, abilities and experience to enjoy field hockey at grass-roots level.
Help Us Revitalise Our Club Post-COVID!
The effects of COVID-19 hit us hard, leading to a significant drop in membership and a decline in the condition of our pitch.
We need your help to bring our hockey comunity back to life and make essential repairs and upgrades to our facilities.
Our Goals
1. Membership Growth and Development:
Attracting and developing players, leaders and coaches is crucial for sustainability.
2. Essential Upkeep and Repairs:
We want our site to be maintained and kept clean and inviting; as such, we are looking to replace and add bins for waste and recycling and to give our pitch area a thorough cleanup. We also want to refresh our entrance signage in order that we can be easily located by visting teams and supporters.
3. Site and Equipment Improvements:
Our goals have seen better days and require some TLC and a new storage container pitchside will allow us to store and access a wider variety of equipment to create dynamic sessions, tailored to players of all levels and abilities.
Our Committment
Field Hockey is a huge sport in the Nottinghamshire area and Boots Hockey Club has been around since 1904. We have a large number of passionate, dedicated members, who have come from various backgrounds.
We pride ourselves in being an inclusive and vibrant community for all, including people with disabilities, older adults, and increasing female participation in hockey. We are always open to receiving new members and welcome supporters to our grounds too on match days!
The upgrades we are looking to make are essential in ensuring a welcoming environment where every member can thrive.
Your contribution will help us:
- Provide equitable opportunities for everyone to join and feel included.
- Build a safe space for people to learn and enjoy hockey.
- Invest in youth recruitment and development; nuturing players, coaches and umpires.
- Improve our overall hockey experience for members and the wider community.
How you can play your part
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
Why this Project Matters
This project is about more than just infrastructure; it is about transforming lives through the power of hockey. Post-pandemic, the need for mental and physical wellbeing is greater than ever, and these upgrades will enable us to offer a supportive and enjoyable environment for all.
With your support, we can build on what we already have to become even more inclusive and really thrive within the local community.
Let's create a welcoming space for everyone to experience the joy of hockey - every donation brings us closer to this vision; and if we hit £5000 then Sport England will match this amount!
Thank you for helping us turn this dream into a reality!
