BEWDLEY FESTIVAL LIMITED

Bewdley Festival was formed in December 1987, when a public meeting held in the Guild Hall, decided to launch an annual festival of the arts designed:

"To bring the best into Bewdley and to bring the best out of Bewdley".

Our mission is:

To create opportunities for members of our community to participate in, and benefit from the very best of creative arts and to be recognized across Worcestershire and beyond as the preeminent Festival for all the Arts.

Thanks to the continued support and encouragement of many members and 70 volunteers, the Festival has developed and expanded over the years to become an eagerly awaited part of the Bewdley and Wyre Forest calendar. Recent events have included:

- Step into Stories  which included something for all children aged 0 – 12+, from picture books to poetry, detectives to inventors, story trains to storytellers and even a chance for over 16’s (including adults!) to learn a little about writing and telling stories for children. Our first annual one-day festival in April 2024 included 19 events packed full of some of the best authors, poets and storytellers in the children’s story world today.

- One Earth Festival in which we promoted music for young people, sustainability and creative arts including poetry, creative writing and visual arts.

- October Festival including drama, music, comedy, presentations, current affairs, art exhibition and classical music. Our events were attended by over 2,000 customers.

Festival has also developed the Bewdley Community Arts Foundation. Funded by any surplus made be running events together with any grants that can be obtained, the foundation funds arts-based activities that help support and inspire the citizens of Bewdley and Wyre Forest.

By providing funding and resources that facilitate and enable access to creative activities (such as music, drama, painting, poetry, digital arts, etc) the foundation aims to help make a positive change to people’s lives. Taking part in creative activities is now widely recognized as having a positive effect on many areas of life.
