The Believers Cricket Club, an amateur team from London, faces The Gambia’s national team to celebrate 100 years of Gambian cricket.
The Believers Cricket Club wasn’t built on skill or glory—it was built on sheer love for the game. A group of friends, who didn't make the cut for their local teams, decided to create their own. Not because they were ready, but because they couldn’t imagine giving up.
Their matches weren’t about winning; they were about daring to try. Every misstep, every dropped catch, every laugh from the sidelines reminded them why they played: for the joy, for the struggle, for the dream.
After brave, hard-fought losses to local teams, their captain had a wild idea. Why not dream bigger? He reached out to over 50 countries, asking for one match. Most didn’t reply. But then, out of the blue, one did....The Gambia.
In November 2025, the Believers will fly to West Africa to face The Gambian national team, under the watchful eyes of the British High Commissioner, to celebrate 100 years of Gambian cricket.
This is more than cricket. It’s an underdog story for the ages. Proof that passion can defy the odds. That grit can rewrite the narrative. That when you believe—really believe—anything is possible.
This is the story of The Believers.

Given the unique nature of this event—the contrast between our amateur team and a national side (who have their own well publicised troubles), the cultural exchange, and the sheer unpredictability of it all - we believe it has the potential to be the subject of a compelling documentary.
The story will highlight not only the sport itself, but the journey of an underdog team pushing beyond their limits, the challenges of playing abroad, and the rich cultural connections forged through sport.
To do this, we are actively seeking funds to support this documentary.
The funds raised will be allocated directly to supporting the production of the documentary and the necessary kit for the Believers' tour to The Gambia. No money will be spent on players' flights or accommodation. Instead, your generous donations will cover the following amongst other associated costs:
This project impacts not just our club, but also the wider cricket community. The Believers' journey to The Gambia offers a rare opportunity to showcase amateur cricket on an international stage, inspire local youth, and promote cultural exchange. The match will create lasting connections between two diverse communities and put the spotlight on The Gambia’s cricket development, helping grow the sport in both nations.
