Barnabus is a homeless charity that has been based in the city centre of Manchester for over 30 years offering long term support to break the cycle of homelessness for good. We work together with people experiencing homelessness supporting them in their journey off the streets, empowering people into independent living through our support centre, trauma informed support work, our Resettlement Tenancy Project and Supported homes.
We are looking for the money raised to develop our Health care advocacy - we will have a dedicated volunteer team who will promote our health offer to our clients. Encouraging clients to access healthcare with our primary care Nurse, our Mental Health Nurse, the podiatrist and the Physiotherapy offer. The funding will pay for volunteer expenses, including DBS checks, training and we'd like to get promotional materials professionally printed.
In addition we'd like to purchase items that we don't usually get donated that would help the health and wellbeing of our clients - for example nail clippers, moisturiser, wet wipes, hair brushes etc. these items would then help with engagement with the health services on offer.
For our housing residents we'd like to purchase exercise equipment to help with their general health and well being, along with supporting residents to access local health and exercise initiatives in the communities they are moving into.
