We're still collecting donations
On the 12th April 2022 we'd raised £2,345 with 33 supporters in 29 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
A small craft studio with a big heart who is on a mission to provide affordable and (hopefully) free creative sessions to local communities.

Art Attack Angus was opened in 2021 with big ambitions. One of its main aims is to provide local communities with a social creative venue where they can explore and learn new crafts. The ultimate goal is to keep costs affordable, or free for those who aren’t in a position to pay.
I’m hoping with my passion and your help we can achieve this goal together.
The money raised will fund a number of free art and craft sessions for children and adults. It will allow me to buy more art materials and equipment providing the local community with a chance to explore different aspects of art and the positive benefits it promotes.
This project is part of the Creative Scotland Crowdmatch - I am 1 of 20 successful creative projects in Scotland that have the opportunity to win a share of £80,000 in match funding, up to £10,000 per project this means your money can go even further. I’m Lauren and I run Art Attack Angus in Arbroath, Scotland.
I have always been passionate about art even from an early age. When I was a child there was a very limited range of groups for me to join. I tried Girl Guides which quite literally ended in tears after an hour and I avoided all sports. Luckily for me a ceramic shop opened and I religiously attended every Saturday morning. This passion for art and crafts continued into adult hood when I studied 3D Art & Design at college and Duncan of Jordanstone.
Now that I am a mother, I have seen for myself the positive benefits art promotes not only in children but in adults. While pregnant with my son in lockdown like many, being creative was my escape and focus but even more importantly it helped me through the early months after my son was born.
The ceramic shop closed many years ago and I’ve always believed there’s a want and need for a creative studio in Angus which provides the local community with the tools and encouragement to experiment and express their creativity.
Last year I opened Art Attack Angus as a social enterprise company. I’m overwhelmed with the positive feedback the studio has received and over the moon that the community are using the studio as a social venue where children, adults, careers and charity organisations drop in daily.
I stock ready to paint ceramics, decoupage papers, paper mâché animals, clay and more. I’m very slowly building up a library of resources for people to try. Art & craft classes are already running and are a huge success.
I’m passionate about creating a relaxed and engaging environment where everyone young and old in the local communities can come to experiment and try different techniques at an affordable price.
I have three objectives with this Crowdfunding project.
The first reason and the most important to me is to raise funds to be able to offer free art and craft classes. The studio prices start at £3.50 to paint a ceramic while this is affordable to many it can be seen as a luxury to some. I want to be able to hand out prepaid vouchers to community groups so they can enjoy a studio session or learn a new craft.
The second is to be able to buy more art materials for the studio. As a social enterprise company, the profit I’m making is going back into the studio so I can expand the range of materials and choices I have to offer. Recently I was able to buy Indian block printing stamps and ink hence all the gorgeous handmade rewards on offer. It will take me a while to build up resources so any help is greatly appreciated.
Finally, the third reason is to be able to hire teachers and artisans to hold classes and to organise art trips. They’re so many wonderful crafts to try and I want to be able to offer these to the local community. For the ones that can’t be held in the studio it would be great to organise day trips.
By supporting this project you will be helping me to achieve my goals. These are long term goals and I've set the target to reflect this. £5000 is a HUGE amount of money which would benefit a lot of people.
As mentioned above this project is part of the Creative Scotland Crowdmatch. If I hit milestones Creative Scotland will match fund this means I have the potential to double the donations.
