My New Album - Cocoon

I am Amy Duncan, a songwriter and solo artist based in Edinburgh. I'm recording a new album to be released in November this year and am here to raise £3500 to pay for recording, mixing, and mastering.

I play keys, synths, guitars and electric upright bass on my recordings and will be working with percussionist Guy Nicolson and co producer Cameron Malcolm.

Throughout lockdown I have been working on new music and have a new album of songs ready to be recorded and released in November this year.

Having just found an agent for the first time, 2020 was going to be my year for touring and getting out into the world. I was looking forward to that feeling of expansiveness through travel and making new connections.

With all of my gigs cancelled, I found myself in a much different world to the one I had imagined, and that's where the songs in Cocoon have unexpectedly sprung from!

The video below is a work in progress of a song that will be on the album.

My Story

My debut album ‘Pilgrimage’ was released on US label Plain Recordings in 2006 after they discovered my home recordings on My Space.

I self-released a further 2 albums winning TV placements on BBC 3 Lip Service and the Netflix version of ‘Charmed’.

Creative Scotland funding made it possible for me to work with producer Calum Malcolm (The Blue Nile) leading to my 4th album Cycles of Life being released on Linn Records. I went on to record a further 2 albums with him ‘Undercurrents’ and ‘Antidote’.

I am now working with Calum's son Cameron Malcolm and I released The Hidden World in June 2020. The album was played on BBC Radio 2 Folk Show with Mark Radcliffe, BBC 6 Music Radcliffe and Maconie and the Lauren Laverne Show which was was a great success for me. The Hidden World was in the Top 30 albums of 2020 in The Big Takeover Magazine and ‘The Whole Town’ from the album was featured in the top 100 tunes from Scotland in 2020 in the Herald, along with Lewis Capaldi and The Blue Nile.

"A crystalline sound world, with confidently poised delivery and bittersweet delicacy" The Scotsman

"Amy Duncan’s music makes the world a better place, and right now we need her, and those like her, more than ever" Scots Whay Hae!

"Duncan’s voice is heavenly " Maverick Magazine

Recording, Mixing and Mastering

1615195624_cameron-2.jpgI'm really excited about working with Cameron Malcolm again on this new album. Through the experience of working with him on The Hidden World I have the awareness of the amazing level of creativity he can bring to the mixes and I am writing music with this in mind.

1615195689_guy-2.jpgPercussionist Guy Nicolson will be an integral part of the sound. As you can hear from the Indian tablas in the above video, he is very intuitive and always brings just the right sound.
