Aim

I am raising money for a charitable cause that is very important to me so please donate and help me reach my target.

I am raising money for a charitable cause that is very important to me, so I appreciate any donations to help me reach my target in aid of Mind Body Eds. Anything you can contribute towards helping me achieve my target will be massively appreciated.

Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS) are a group of genetic conditions affecting the body’s connective tissue, resulting from collagen defects or defects in the proteins that interact with collagen. (Collagen makes up 80% of your body, and is found in every organ)

Collagen is the body's most abundant protein and is responsible for being the 'glue' supporting and keeping everything together. It is found in the skin, bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, eyes, blood vessels, gums, organs and other tissues.

EDS causes the connective tissues to be very fragile and stretchy which causes damage to the body.

There are currently 13 different sub-types of EDS recognised and defined in the 2017 international classification and the most commonly-diagnosed sub-type is Hypermobility Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS). There is a severity spectrum of EDS ranging from relatively mild to life-threatening.

I have had symptoms of EDS alongside Fibromyalgia and PoTs for around 13 years, and although there are areas in my life I struggle with, I have learned to live with this condition as best as I can.

I am doing this 30 miles in 30 days to raise awareness about this condition and to hopefully raise some money for such a wonderful charity.

My starting date will be 31st January 2024 until 1st March 2024. Although I may not be doing every day, I will get to my 30 mile target!

What your donations lead towards: £50 helps to cover travel costs for people to see a specialist in London, £120 pays for one session of specialist physiotherapy to help manage this condition, £350 covers the cost of a EDS specialist consultation to bring a plan together, £2000 funds an upright MRI which can be lifesaving, £5000 enables mobility support such as a full terrain wheelchair.

Thank you all so much for listening to my story and helping to donate towards this wonderful charity, although my EDS cannot be cured, with your donations I will be able to live better with it ❤️
