General Conditions

The following are the general conditions that apply to Crowdmatch funding.

All recipients of match funding must confirm that they have read and agree to the National Lottery Terms and Conditions, available at: https://www.creativescotland.com/resources-publications/applicant-and-recipient-materials/terms-and-conditions

Your data will be shared with our partner Creative Scotland. For more information on how your personal data is used, please see their Privacy Notice: https://www.creativescotland.com/privacy-policy

Claiming Your Grant

You must draw down your grant through Crowdfunder within 3 months of the successful completion of your crowdfunding campaign. Any funding not drawn down within this period will be considered unspent and returned to Creative Scotland.

Use of Grant

Your grant must be used for the purposes set out on your Crowdfunder campaign page.

If you are unable to use the funding for the agreed activity, you must inform Creative Scotland as soon as possible, as significant changes to your project may affect your eligibility for Crowdmatch funding.

We recognise that some changes may be necessary. However, if changes are made without prior agreement, Creative Scotland may cancel the award and seek to recover any funding already paid.

Please notify us of any changes by contacting [email protected].

Branding and Recognition

Creative Scotland administers funding on behalf of the Scottish Government and The National Lottery. All recipients must acknowledge the support they have received so that the public can see when public funding has supported creative work.

Recipients must acknowledge the match funding publicly in line with Creative Scotland's Accreditation Guidelines, available at: https://www.creativescotland.com/resources-publications/applicant-and-recipient-materials/logos/creative-scotland

As Crowdmatch is supported by National Lottery funding, recipients must use National Lottery branding in accordance with Creative Scotland's Accreditation Guidelines.

Case Studies

We may wish to use your project as a case study on our website to showcase goodpractice and support other organisations interested in crowdfunding.

Evaluation

To help us understand the impact of the fund, you will be asked to complete a short impact report approximately 8 weeks after your campaign closes.

Content and Reward Disclaimer

While Creative Scotland supports a wide range of creative projects through Crowdmatch, inclusion on the Crowdfunder platform does not guarantee match funding.

All campaigns must align with Creative Scotland's funding principles and standards for the use of public funding.

Campaign rewards and content must be appropriate, non-discriminatory, and consistent with the professional presentation of creative work. Creative Scotland reserves the right to withhold support from campaigns whose tone, content or rewards may present reputational risk or are incompatible with the public nature of this fund.

Creative Freedom and Public Accountability

Creative Scotland supports the freedom of artists and organisations to explore bold and original ideas. At the same time, projects supported through public funding must meet standards of appropriateness, transparency, and accountability.

We aim to support creative risk-taking while maintaining public trust.

Creative Scotland reserves the right to withdraw, reduce, vary or withhold the funding, in whole or in part in if these conditions are not met or if applicable laws are not complied with.

Crowdmatch funding, public contributions and social security benefits

People in receipt of social security benefits, or those planning to apply for them, should make their own checks in terms of the potential impact that receiving funds through Crowdmatch (including both public contributions and Creative Scotland match funding) may have on any benefits payments.

It is your responsibility to consider the impact of receiving this funding on any other support you intend to access. We are unable to provide advice on benefits, tax or self-assessment.

We strongly advise that you check the most up-to-date information from the UK Government, HMRC, or an independent advice service before launching a campaign or accepting funds.
