New stretch target

Extra funding will enable us to print more books which could be donated to local schools and libraries. It would also be used to fund future creative community projects, with excess proceeds split with the charity Arty-Folks.

Sitting Rooms of Culture is a voluntary group that started back when lockdown was looming. The aim was and is to promote creativity as a tool for maintaining and building connections within the local area, and inspiring people to share their skills.

We have run various projects over the last few months, one of the first being led by esteemed Author and Coventry Kid Cathy Cassidy. The Coventry Couch Potato Challenge asked for local residents to submit poems and short stories inspired by the lockdown experience.

These were carefully collected and collated by Cathy into a book called Yesterday’s Diary which is a patchwork of stunning poetry, prose and fiction from a huge cross section of the Coventry and Warwickshire population.

We would like to raise funds to enable us to pay for publishing of the book, for all one hundred and seventeen contributors to receive their own copy, and to have copies sent to local schools and libraries.

There will be copies available to buy, we doubt there will be much profit. However, if through sales we generate a small profit this will be split between further Sitting Rooms of Culture community projects, and Arty-Folks who are an amazing Coventry charity providing support for people with mental ill health on their recovery journey through art. The book will be published through Fair Acre Press - we will update you in where and when you are able to purchase a copy.

Thank you so much to everyone who has been involved with this project so far, it really has been a team effort. Huge high five to Cathy Cassidy for collecting and collating all this amazing work, it really was a labour of love.

We have already received some donations, massive thank you to Michael Mogan for your generous contribution and support with fundraising, it really is much appreciated. There is also a secret squirrel who has made a large donation but would rather remain anonymous, you know who you are and we are so grateful.

We really hope we get the amount we need to see this book in print and be able to share this incredible body of work. Thank you in advance for your support!
