What is The Wolves Way?

Welcome Wolves fans and thank you for taking the time to visit the campaign page! So, The Wolves Way is a non-profit mini-magazine project about all things (you guessed it) Wolverhampton Wanderers.

From in-depth features, stories, interviews, and match reports – the 30+ page publication will be filled with engaging content and Molineux nostalgia presented in a slick physical magazine format. 

By purchasing a copy of the magazine for £3* (or you can donate more if you'd like), not only will you be getting a one-off copy of The Wolves Way but you'll be helping support the fantastic work of the Wolves Foundation in the process. 

*And a couple of quid for postage too.

What's going to be inside?

Thanks to the incredible support of some bloody brilliant people, The Wolves Way will be filled from front to back with tremendous tales from the Molineux turf. 

In this one-off edition, here's some of the things you'll find inside:

  • Carl Ikeme – An incredibly honest insight into his leukaemia battle, experiencing racism in football and plans for the future;
  • 1980 League Cup Triumph 40 Years On – Mel Eves on his memories of lifting the 1980 League Cup trophy at Wembley, as well as a revisited match report including the post-match comments from boss John Barnwell.
  • Jack Price – Wolves' very own Andrea Pirlo tells of life in the MLS, spending lockdown in Disney Land and his special relationship with the Wolves faithful;
  • Journeying Through Europe – The European dream is over for now, but what a journey it was. A first-person perspective on our last European away trip to Espanyol before that Covid thing came along and ruined the football for everyone. Featuring insight from some of our most loyal travelling supporters.
  • Johnny Gorman – He came through the Manchester United set-up with the likes of Paul Pogba before moving to Molineux as a 16-year-old. Gorman was Northern Ireland's youngest ever international playing against Pirlo and co, but after making just one appearance for Wolves, he struggled to make an impact in professional football. Now 27, he tells us his story and plans for the future after enrolling on a psychology course at university. 

Who's behind The Wolves Way campaign?

Well, my name is Tom Oakley and I'm a journalist, lifelong Wolves fan and season ticket holder in the North Bank. I used to write for the Express & Star newspaper and in September last year I decided to leave full-time work to go and study a Sports Journalism MA degree at Sheffield Hallam University. As part of the course, we've been tasked with producing a final project and, of course, it was a no brainer to focus my work on the Old Gold and Black. 

I have a huge passion for football and writing and it has always been a dream of mine to produce a physical piece of journalism for Wolves fans to enjoy. This project will not benefit me financially in anyway and ultimately, I hope people will enjoy The Wolves Way as much as I've enjoyed putting it all together. 

What we need to make The Wolves Way a reality 

In order to print The Wolves Way in bulk and raise some funds to the Wolves Foundation, I've had to set a target on the number of copies we sell before we can push ahead and go to print.

The aim is to sell a minimum of 100 copies of the magazine at £3 each in the 28 days that the campaign is live. If we can achieve this, it means you'll get your copy of The Wolves Way, while supporting the Wolves Foundation in doing truly great things for people all over Wolverhampton and beyond.  To get your copy just select it as a perk and enter your details accordingly.
