We are a small group of people, all volunteers, who have been involved in a community festival in Bitterne Park for the last couple of years, first RiverFest on Riverside Park and then TriFest by the clock tower on Bitterne Park Triangle. We now want to make it a regular thing every year at the Cobden Bridge end of Riverside Park.
It will be a free, open to all, cross between a music fest with local bands performing and a village show with local crafts people and traders' stalls. We are looking at a variety of activities on the day such as a dog show, tug of war, a limbo pole and other things like tin can ally, giant jenga etc. We might even go a bit posh with croquet, all ideas welcome. Or just get your picnic blanket out, buy your food and drink from the traders on Bitterne Park Triangle and come and sit on the grass and chill to the music. No firm date yet but probably end of August.
The last two yrs have only been possible with significant grant funding which will no longer be available so we need to raise cash.
The first way would be to raise just enough to hire the kit we need then do it all again next year. We don't think that's a long term option. So we want to raise enough to purchase a basic small festival "kit". Something we can use every year with the added advantage of being able to lend it out to other community based groups at other times of the year.So we have costed out:
Three heavy duty Gazebo type tents.
A small performance stage.
Some trestle tables.
First aid kit, fire extinguisher, litter picking kit etc.
Basic P.A. set up.
Costed out at an approximate total of £1480
So we need your help. This is the total we need to raise. If we get it you get a festival. If we don't you get your money back (but unfortunately you don't get a festival).
Please help us get this going and then come along and have a great day.
