Aim

To help with funds to pay for and run the inaugural Walking Football World Cup, to be held in Manchester in May 2020.

The Walking Football Association (WFA) is a not-for-profit company which has been formed to develop Walking Football in the UK.

Walking Football is becoming established as an unique sport in its own right, with distinct rules different to those of Association Football.

At its heart Walking Football is focused on Age Groups of 50+ and is an amateur sport for teams playing against one another 5-a-side or 6-a-side.

This allows for older men and women to continue participating in a competitive team sport environment well into their retirement years.

Walking Football is excellent for maintaining ongoing fitness levels, promotes good health with multiple mental and physical benefits.

Walking Football is growing quickly and its popularity taking shape, with more and more players coming to the  Sport, in all age groups.

The WFA is the national governing body in the UK and as part of its mandate works to encourage national and international competitions.

This includes, today, initiating the first ever Walking Football World Cup, a tournament for international teams, arranged in different age groups, to be held in Manchester in May 2020.

In addition to sponsorship and other revenue generating activities, the WFA seeks to raise an additional £10,000 to support the running costs and the development of the National teams representing the different age groups.

The crowdfunding option is attractive as it allows for considerable rewards to be offered to those who donate funds including many which are tagged to attending the event.

The fund raising coupled with the additional publicity this will provide, as well as the attendance are important factors in making this as success.
