Aim

We are building a new CLIMBING Centre. We are striving to create an amazing space for all; to learn the basics or train for the Olympics.

This is why we want to create you, the biggest indoor climbing centre in the area. 

We need to raise an extra £15,000 to finish our build, which includes the build of our 7.5 metre roped walls. This will help make The Prow accessible for everyone, creating an inclusive social community for all of Cornwall.

 We are building a social space for everyone and their dog to get involved with, we want to make this an inclusive space for all abilities to try climbing. Oh! and of course try our handmade pizzas! Our centre will offer an adventure to everyone of all ages!

If you help us reach our target The Prow will have top ropes for everyone to learn how to climb and take their knowledge in to the great outdoors.

We will also be providing employment opportunities for the community of Cornwall, as well as using local and economical products to supply our centre.

We are not just asking for funds; we are asking for your support. To get us up and running we need to raise £15,000 but we also need you to share our campaign with all your pals!

We will take every penny raised and put it directly towards increasing the offering of activities including our ropes and auto belay sections.

Climbing has three main disciplines that have now been included in the 2020 Olympics. These are: bouldering, speed climbing and lead climbing The Prow will include majority of its space to bouldering which is the most inclusive and rapidly growing of all the three disciplines.

We are in a unique location surrounded by coastal walks, top surfing spots and plenty of outdoor climbing, but sometimes the weather prevents us from having fun. We want to bring the sport of indoor climbing to Cornwall. 

Indoor climbing is growing at a staggering rate and there are many reasons for this; it bridges social exclusion, indoor climbing is an all year-round sport, climbing promotes physical and mental wellbeing, people of all ages and abilities can get involved. We want to give children and adults a place to learn, grow and have fun.

We need your help to give the centre a section dedicated to top rope/lead climbing. Roped climbing is essential to enable us to deliver educational sessions to schools, colleges, universities and all groups of all abilities.

We have visited, built, and worked in climbing facilities and centres all over the world and distilled our favourite parts from each to create The Prow Climbing Centre. We are putting all we have into The Tide as we know Cornwall needs it and will love it, we want to offer you the chance to become a part of this journey with us.

When are you hoping to open?

We have experienced a few delays, but we are aiming to open mid November 2019

Are there any age limits for climbing? 

The minimum age that we can cater for at The Tide is four years old, there is no upper limit and we see climbers as young as 68 years old! Climbing is incredibly safe when conducted under controlled conditions.

Will there be any activities for parents whilst our children are having fun?

Yes! You can either get involved yourself and climb with your child or join in on one of our fitness classes. If you prefer a slightly more relaxed vibe you can simply relax in our café.

Is there parking nearby? 

We may be the only climbing gym in the country to have adequate free parking! That being said, we encourage environmentally friendly transport options like cycling and running; there is the offer of a free cup of tea to anyone who arrives under their own power.

Can everyone get involved?

In short, YES! 

We encourage absolutely everyone to come and join in, climbing is used by Help for Heroes for rehabilitation. It is a stimulating environment for individuals suffering from conditions such as Autism and Asperger’s syndrome. 

We can change or turn off music, we can recommend quiet periods, we can offer one on one tuition. Our core values incorporate having everyone involved.
