Raising funds for a family concert at Grassington Festival featuring a lithophone made of local limestone rock.
Grassington Festival is featuring the world premiere of 'The Song of the Sea that Was', composed by Thomas Lydon, a work for orchestra and solo lithophone which is a percussion instrument made of carboniferous limestone.
This will be a world's first and exciting for young and old alike. We are looking to fund the concert so that we can bring the sound of the Yorkshire Dales National Park alive with our ringing rocks and give local children the chance to experience the wonder of classical music in a fun and insiprational way in the beautiful setting of the Grassington Festival Field Marquee.
This is part of a partnership project between Grassington Festival, Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, Purple Patch Arts, Skipton Camerata and Quarry Arts.
