This past week has been nothing short of unbelievable. THANK YOU!!! Thank you for all the support, help and enthusiasm for our film! You already pledged about 30 % of our goal. It's great!
There is only 70% more to go. I now we can do it with your help!
Don't forget to share the page and the movie with others on social media and in conversations.
Who are we?
We are a group of six ambitious and enthusiastic film students from Norwich University of the Arts. We are all from very different backgrounds with different upbringings, and we hope to bring our sensibilities and cultures to the film.
What's the story about?
This is a short film (5-7 minutes) that centers around a young man called Jotham. He has lived in a cult his entire life. After he experiences his first ritual in the cult he escapes from them. The cult was like a family to him. He goes deep into the forest where he is secluded. To feel safe he needs to remain hidden. In the forest Jotham has to survive, he will be tested by the paranoia that slowly takes over his mind.
We want to explore how humans react to trauma, guilt and the ensuing pressure of coping with said trauma. How we slowly deteriorate both mentally and physically, if the world is ripped from underneath us. How our paranoid illusions and reality blends together as a result.
Why do we need Your help? How can You help?
We believe it's a great story that given the chance could be amazing. You could help if for nothing else, but for the thrill of the story. You would also help young, upcoming independent film makers. We also have some very cool rewards for your pledges. Every successive pledge contains the rewards from previous pledges.
To meet our ambition we know we can't make it alone. We would like to make a special film, that will connect with our audience. We believe that the audience should be an active participant in viewing a film, they should always be engaged not just emotionally, but intellectually. There should be something that makes the audience think and question the ideas presented.
To create a viewing experience we've described, we need funding. We need funding for the pre-production, principle photography and post-production of the film. We aim to distribute the finished piece to festival circuits, this will be a part of the funding as well. You can see a detailed graphic breakdown of our budget below.
To help us You can do a great many things!
You can pledge funds to our campaign. How ever much You have to spare for this project will help us reach our end goal. It will make a difference!
You don't necessarily need to pledge Your funds to us. You can help us by spreading the word, creating buzz. Do You know some one who might be interested about this film? Tell them about it! Do You have a social media site? (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Google+, Snapchat) Post the campaign on Your social media sites publicly. You know anyone in the media who could help us get the word out? If You know people in radios, newspapers or vloggers who would be willing to help us, get us in contact with them. You can send them this (crowd founder) page, our Facebook page or our email address.
If You would like to speak with us there are multiple ways of getting in contact with us. You can get in contact with us via email or by commenting on this page. You can also find us on Facebook.

Who's behind it?
Hi my name is Daniel Nicholl, I'm the producer of Among The Occult. I came to Norwich to study film and one of my keen interests is producing, I've produced a documentary before that I'm very proud of and hope to gain the same success with this film. I find the film's nature vs nurture subject to be interesting and relatable and look forward to exploring it with the rest of my team.
Hello my name is Connor Stevenson-Wright I’m 20 years old and I’m from Norfolk. Since around my early teens, I’ve wanted to be a filmmaker. I studied Film Studies and Creative Media for two years. I developed my skills over the two years and I got into Norwich University of the Arts to study Film and Moving Image. Since being at the uni I have done sound design, editing and cinematography. I love cinematography the most, I love photography and the challenge of creating an image. I like to focus on strong compositions and expressive almost avant-garde lighting techniques. ’Among The Occult’ is an incredibly visual piece which I can bring all the skills I've learnt over the past four years together to bring my A game.
Hello, my name is David Bodrogi, I'm the director of Among The Occult. I'm from Hungary, I came to the UK to learn about film making. I've loved movies from a young age which lead me here. I came here to study directing, which really intrigued me, I've been waiting for a long time to have the opportunity to direct. Now that I have it I want to make the most of it. On this project I plan to get in to the human mind, I want to know what makes people tick and how the human psyche works.
Hello, my name is Tayi Rushwaya , I'm the writer of Among The Occult. Originally I'm from Zimbabwe. I lived there for 14 years before moving to the UK. My culture plays a part in my writing. My background influences the characters I write about. Though films are not big in Zimbabwe they were apart of my upbringing and have lead me here. As a Christian this story connects with me as it speaks about the sin of humanity. The isolation of the character speaks to me as well as I deal with that issue myself. I look forward to making this film resonate with people, while still having a style that speaks to me too.
Hi, My name is Pierce Stanley, I'm the editor of this production. I love to edit and everything about the craft behind it. I've been editing for 4 years now across programs such as Avid, Adobe Premier Pro, and Sony Vegas Pro. I really look forward to bring out the paranoid style and feel of the film through its editing. I feel like putting the viewers in the character's perspective of the world is vital to the story and something I will give my all to achieve.
Hi my name is David Cisay-Rule, I'm the sound designer of 'Among The Occult'. I'm from London and I study Film and Moving Image Production at Norwich University of the Arts. I've always been keen on learning things about films, since I was 13 years of age. I think that my group has a very special film in the making, as from the planning of it, it is very unique and stylish. I really want to make a film that sounds unique and immersive.
