The Sheringham Makers Yard?

We are aiming to raise funds to purchase a commercial property within the town centre of Sheringham on the North Norfolk coast and install the equipment needed to use it as a Maker Space. 'The Makers Yard' will be a social hub for the local and wider community to use as access to education, tools and equipment. A place where like minded people can collaborated, share or even teach.  We believe that reinventing town centre spaces and keeping them for the community is important....having a hub to share, inspire, create and learn in a social environment would have a major positive impact on our town. This is something that can't be bought on the internet.

Its not just about the tech stuff!

As well providing modern technology for creators, such as, CNC machines, 3D printers, laser cutters and more, we would also give access to no tech tools, hand tools and basic building blocks for creativity such as Lego, Cardboard and art supplies, these also play a hugely important role for design and build processes. There will also be sewing machines, art and craft areas and a place for a teacher, tutor or class leader to base themselves during group courses and activities, such as, adult education, free classes for the community or school & club visits.

Living a long way from learning.

We have a lack of local availability when it comes to education in these hands on creative industries, such as the often referred to STEM, (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). By providing the necessary tools, equipment and education, we can even help students prepare for roles within theses sectors, or, introduce someone to these sectors and to a path in their life they may never have expected to exist. Sparking interest and enthusiasm is an incredibly rewarding achievement and to think that we could potentially offer that to our community, young and old, really excites us!

Can you help us raise £150,000?

Your support today, quite simply, would be an amazingly kind gesture. One of which would be recognised with huge thanks from within our community. If you don't want to pledge, thats ok, but, please do the next best thing for us and help spread the word. By simply sharing this project across as many social media platforms or within your work environment could make all the difference!
