Let's bring beavers back to Bodmin Moor! A magical place needs a magical beast. Beavers have been extinct on the moor for over 400 years.

by Merlin Hanbury-Tenison in Cardinham, England, United Kingdom

The Eurasian Beaver was once one of the most incredible creatures in the British Isles.  This keystone species prevents flooding, improves fish numbers and triggers an abundance of other beneficial animals and insects.  It is slowly and carefully being reintroduced to our island and The Cornwall Beaver Project is proud to now be returning it to the heart of Poldark Country on Bodmin Moor.  On a tributary of the Warleggan River, up to 6 young beaver will be released this Spring but we need your help to get them here from their old home in Scotland.

Cabilla Cornwall is a rewilding project on a farm in the heart of Bodmin Moor that will teach people about the incredible healing power of the natural world.  Designed for those struggling from the stress inducing pace of the urban environment, veterans suffering from PTSD and for local people who just want to visit and learn from our unique ancient oak woodland it is a place for healing, restoring and growing.

So many of you generously supported the first phase of The Cornwall Beaver Project at Woodland Valley Farm near Ladock two years ago.  That project has been a huge success but it wouldn't have been without your help and support.  The next phase is upon us!  Let's get beavers back on the moors!

We are so grateful for the continuing encouragement and support of the Cornwall Wildlife Trust.  It is only through ceasing the damage and restoring the natural world that we can pass it onto our children in a condition they deserve.  Cornwall Wildlife Trust appreciates that the careful and considered reintroduction of beaver in Cornwall could play a vital part in ensuring this restoration.  Please support this vital project.

All money raised will go towards finding a healthy beaver family in Scotland, trapping them kindly and transporting them to Cornwall, then health screening and delivering them here to Bodmin Moor.  Additional funds will contribute to building the beaver enclosure, purchasing monitoring equipment to keep an eye on them and installing a small hide so that guests can watch them without disturbing.
