The 2CVat70

The design icon that is the 2CV car, turns 70 years old in 2018. The British are celebrating this monumental birthday with a 1985 2CV called 'Dolly' transformed into the World’s Smallest Food Truck. 'Dolly' was revealed just two weeks ago as she was flown into her reveal event by helicopter at Bicester Heritage!

The project is supported by around 50 partners and sponsors, including the 'Best of British' food and drink. The repurposing of the car has been an all British affair, as seven 'Great British' companies joined forces to design, build and manufacture, in Britain, our 2CV Dolly into her 70th Birthday 21st Century repurpose, taking this design icon back into the fields of the UK 70 years on.

The car has already headlined The London Motor Show in May 2018, to much acclaim as the surprise hit of the show. 'Dolly' the car is already partnered with the food waste charity Food Cycle, as their new British Ambassador for Food Waste.  She will spend time each week highlighting this issue while traveling around the UK.

State of the Art and Equipped to the Max

The car has given the design and build teams many hours of deliberation on how best to fit so much into something so compact but functional, while allowing her to still run like a dream, with her original engine and suspension still in place.

The car has been gifted some £40,000 of product from our partners and can handle anything from a small picnic in the park, to dinner for 40 in a field, or even a small wedding party when partnered with a vintage Route Master bus - the possibilities are endless! Eggs are always on the menu as the car has been gifted 10,000 Free Range West Country eggs by St Ewe Eggs in Cornwall. 'Dolly' also has the Best of British artisan products and producers on board with both food and drink.

What can Dolly Do?

Dolly has been designed so that all her equipment can be added and removed as required. With our Sous Vide we can produce precision cooking and our 'one of a kind' Charcoal Oven by OX grills turns out incredible food. The ethos of the car cuisine is the best ingredients, fresh, seasonal and simply cooked. As already mentioned eggs are always on the menu as the car has been gifted 10,000 Free Range West Country eggs by St Ewe Eggs in Cornwall. The French Classic the souffle is permanently on the menu with 100 per hour produced! The car has the Best of British artisan products and producers on board. In addition, the bar has a dozen plus artisan producers, making some of the finest spirits and drinks and is complemented by over 100 stunning crystal glasses for our smaller events.

Why are we Crowdfunding?

Although the car has received a wide range of gifted products and services, the setup of her small base operation requires a cash injection to furnish the space with a small prep kitchen and storage. Our Crowdfunding campaign also highlights our commitment to both local & national charities, making the car available to charities and organisations as well as to our charity partner Food Cycle.
