Launching the £1.2m Local Action Fund in partnership with the National Emergencies Trust

We’re excited to announce our new Local Action Fund in partnership with the National Emergencies Trust to help community and voluntary organisations recover from the effects of the pandemic!

From closures and staff shortages to increased demand on services, charities and organisations across the UK have faced countless difficulties since March 2020. Many have had to reinvest their financial reserves to continue supporting their community, while being unable to fundraise in the usual ways.

Over a year later, restrictions are easing and life is slowly returning to the ‘new normal’. Though, for these organisations, it’s not that simple. Continued demand combined with shortfalls in funding are putting many at risk of permanent closure.

To aid in recovery, the National Emergencies Trust has launched a £1.2million Local Action Fund as part of their Coronavirus Appeal! Voluntary and community organisations will be able to access up to £10,000 in match-funding to help them continue making a real difference to people across the UK.

So, how does it work? Well, organisations just need to apply to the fund and, if eligible, they’ll be asked to set up a crowdfunding campaign. Once live, the Trust will match pledges from the crowd, pound for pound, up to a total of £10,000.

Eligible services include:

  • Health and wellbeing services
  • Activities that relieve pressure on local statutory services
  • Services for vulnerable people self-isolating
  • Services addressing food poverty
  • Community response coordination
  • Services supporting those experiencing, or at risk of, domestic abuse, those facing homelessness and those working with refugees and or asylum seeker communities
  • Services supporting young people’s access to education
  • Services supporting those in poverty or at risk of poverty
