BA Better World Fund: match funding for UK charities

Crowdfunder and British Airways have reopened the BA Better World Community Fund, offering up to £5,000 in match funding to support charities and social enterprises making a difference in communities across the UK.

The fund, which has supported charities and social enterprises to raise more than £10 million since launching in 2022, matches donations pound for pound up to £250 per pledge for eight weeks once a project goes live on Crowdfunder.

This phase is focused on the fund’s ‘People’ categories, supporting projects working in wellbeing, social mobility, education, disability inclusion and local community support. The fund is open to UK-registered charities and social enterprises, with priority given to projects near British Airways operations.

Previous recipients include:

  • Flamingo Chicks, a Bristol-based charity providing inclusive dance workshops for children with disabilities and their families received over £27,000 of BA Better World Community Fund match funding
  • Global Grooves, based in Tameside, Greater Manchester, bring inspirational Carnival artists from around the world into communities across the UK to create unique opportunities for young people. They received over £165,000 of match funding.
  • Brighton & Hove Albion Foundation, received over £20,000 of match funding to help young people across Sussex to get active, learn new skills, and improve their wellbeing through award-winning football programmes.

To apply, organisations create a project on Crowdfunder and apply for match funding directly through their project dashboard. Match funding is available for eight weeks from a project going live.
