Our base at Moelyci Farm has allowed us to develop our work supporting health and wellbeing through working and walking with donkeys.

However, our future is uncertain because Ffarm Moelyci is up for sale. We need your help!

Help us raise enough to be able to buy land and continue our work with donkeys and people.

Who are Snowdonia Donkeys? 

Pwy yw Snowdonia Donkeys?

Snowdonia Donkeys charity was established in 2013 to promote health and well-being through working and walking with donkeys in the local environment of North Wales. It is our mission to be a centre of excellence for the promotion of health and wellbeing of people and donkeys.

Cafodd Asynnod Eryri ei sefydlu yn 2013 er mwyn hybu iechyd a lles pobl ac asynnod drwy weithio a cherdded o gwmpas amgylchedd lleol Gogledd  Cymru. Ein cenhadaeth yw bod yn ganolfan sy’n rhagoriaethu mewn hybu iechyd a lles.

Operating since 2013  we moved some of our donkeys to Ffarm Moelyci in 2016. With support from volunteers and local businesses, we built a field shelter and classroom to enable us to work with vulnerable adults and children. Having a base to operate from has enabled us to develop our programmes, and given us the opportunity to care for more donkeys.

We have received grants from BBC Children in Need and Age Cymru to work with groups including Action for Children and Teuli Ni. However, without a base to operate from we will be unable to continue our current work.

What we do 

Every Saturday we run a club for young people (8yrs +), educating them in how to care for and work with donkeys. Currently, it's possible because Ffarm Moelyci provides us with a car parking area and café for visitors along with our field shelter, classroom and picturesque walks.

We provide donkey assisted activities for vulnerable adults and children. We work with many of the groups over a long period of time, enabling them to obtain certificates of achievement including those awarded by the Donkey Breed Society.

We hold regular open days that enable the public to meet our donkeys and enjoy fun activities around Ffarm Moelyci. Our regular volunteer days include field maintenance, donkey training days and taking our donkeys to local events and shows, and occasionally bringing home a prize or two!

Meet our Donkeys

Walter

He's an 11yr old gelding who joined us in 2010. He's our largest donkey and loves having his ears stroked. He volunteers with us and enjoys walking with the visitors.

Norman

  Norman is a 2 year old gelding and the baby of the group, he loves the attention he gets from working with our visiting groups.

Our newest addition to Snowdonia Donkeys, she has yet to be named and we will be offering you a chance to suggest a name for her as a reward tier supporting us.

What your pledge will do

All of your donations and pledges will go towards ensuring that our donkeys are well looked after in a secure home where they can continue to work with local groups and provide a visitor attraction. Ideally, we would like our permanent home to be at Ffarm Moelyci, if this is not possible then all funds raised will be used to provide us with a secure long-term home close by.

Specifically, they will go towards: 

• The long-term lease (minimum of 25yrs) of our land so that we can continue our work
• Help encourage more volunteers to get involved
• Allow us to re-home and care for more donkeys

In the event that we are unable to secure land at Ffarm Moelyci we would like to use your donations to help us find a new home for our Snowdonia Donkeys.

If our target is not met but we can still secure a lease then all pledges will be used for this purpose.

If our target is exceeded and we get to stay on Ffarm Moelyci then any surplus funds will go toward buying further extensions to our lease.
