Aim

The City of Sheffield Diving Club needs your help to bounce back from the COVID crisis, ensuring there is a future for diving in Sheffield.

Our Club

The City of Sheffield Diving Club is a Community Amateur Sports Club, providing springboard and platform diving to hundreds of children and adults across Sheffield and Yorkshire. We cater for every level from those who want to keep fit and have fun, to those who have Olympic aspirations. In fact, members of the Club have represented Great Britain at every Olympic Games since 1992!

We operate independently out of Ponds Forge International Sports Centre and are incredibly proud of the fantastic community of nearly 200 members and their families who benefit from the fantastic sport of Diving every week.

The impact of COVID-19

Like many other sports clubs, the City of Sheffield Diving Club has been significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and requires help to continue to get back up and running as quickly as possible when our pool reopens.

The club runs several events per year which generate income and organises a series of fundraising activities, which we have been unable to do this year. We rely on these funds to maintain, replace and purchase new equipment, as well as to support our team of coaches to obtain qualifications and attend camps and competitions.

What are we doing during this time?  Check out our Dive the Distance Club Challenge for Coaches and Members!

FIRSTLY - The Club will donate £500 of funds raised to the Sheffield Hospitals Charity in recognition of the amazing work of our local hospitals and key workers during this unprecedented time.

SECONDLY - Since our diving pool closed in March, our members and their families have completed weekly club challenges and workouts and to celebrate their hard work and commitment, we have set ourselves a very special team challenge. During the final week of May, we aim to run, walk or cycle 2199 miles - that's the distance to the diving pools we would have visited to complete our club competition season. We will travel from Ponds Forge Sports Centre around seven UK diving pools, onto Croatia and then finish at our final competition pool destination in Rome. We have invited divers, family members and friends to join in and clock their mileage or achieve a personal mileage challenge cross the week (adhering to government social distancing guidelines of course!)

If we are fortunate enough to surpass our fundraising goal, we will add 1 mile for every £1 over £1500 we raise, and add these miles to our Dive the Distance Club Challenge. Check out our route below.

How you can help us?

Funding will contribute to the maintenance and purchasing of equipment, support coaches and members to attend competitions and camps and to the continued running costs of the club. We really appreciate any contribution that people are willing to make to ensure the future of our fantastic club, that is integral to the physical and mental wellbeing of so many. Every donation received of £10 or more will automatically put you into a prize draw for a studio photo shoot with renowned sports photographer Simon Wright of GBswimstars. This experience is worth £250.
