Niche Patisserie are raising £10,000 to open a bakery and patisserie in Oswestry.

We are now in the building! Let's get this show on the road!
Our family owned business Niche Patisserie Ltd is opening what is going to be the finest bakery and patisserie around in Oswestry. We are all so excited to be where we are now within a year! starting from humble beginnings working from home due to lock-down 2020, pushing out basic baking from home, to progressing to a commercial kitchen and now launching on the high street.
Niche is something really special and with the support we have had so far from all our customers, friends and family we are now entering the next chapter. We have grown organically over the last 12 months and have now over 1200 residential customers and over 10 commercial customers with outlets in the Shropshire, Cheshire and Welshpool areas. We are so grateful for the support and friendships we have built with our suppliers both locally and nationally. We have delivered our Niche range to London, Hampshire, Dorset, Devon, Scotland and Wales.
WHO ARE WE?
We are a small team of 4 family members and 3 part time employees. Between the management team we have a great business skill set which includes business operations and development, administration and accountancy, HR and training,chamber of commerce/BID experience and we are so lucky to have one of the most upcoming talented Executive Pastry Chefs around. Adam Cleal was a Semi -Finalist on Bake Off The Professionals in 2019.
BRINGING BACK TO LIFE "THE BLACK GATE" BUILDING
As a family business we need your help and support in bringing back to life "The Black Gate" building in Oswestry, Shropshire. This building is 400 years old this year and has been left in a very sorry state, with help and support the family want to bring something very special to Oswestry and the surrounding Shropshire area.
The building is timber framed with wattle and daub construction in places and Grade 2 listed and has seen many changes of use over the years gone by. It dates back to many different eras and was once also a tea room in the 1950's. We have made a start with the transformation and are working closely with many different associations to bring the property back to its formal glory with a modern twist. The project is huge with new 3 phase electric being installed a brand new kitchen with new ovens and a state of the art patisserie studio which is where all the magic happens!
We are working hard at bringing something very special and incorporating the old and new within this building for everyone to enjoy an exciting visit and experience. You will be able to enjoy the building and watch the wonderful patisserie delights be created by Adam and his team of young chefs.
The quality of patisserie work from Adam and his team has definitely put Oswestry on the map through this past year. You will be able to experience everything from luxurious croissants, pastries and artisan breads through to the finest Afternoon Tea Experience around and chocolate creations that just breathe luxury.
LOTS OF EXCITING THINGS ON THE HORIZON
We are looking to employ more local residents to join our team who will learn the finest patisserie and baking skills from the very talented Adam Cleal who also came 2nd place in the UK and Ireland junior chocolate masters competition in 2019.
There will be places for apprenticeships so we can help support the younger generation coming through that want to start a career in pastry and patisserie skills. This will be a huge opportunity for local school leavers to work within the Niche team.
We are looking forward to celebrating our creations and to showcase them in such a beautiful and historical building and to be able to share with you the Niche Patisserie experience.
The passion we have to succeed along with the added support we have had from everyone has been overwhelming. Through what has been the most unsettling times for us all to live through in the last few months we hope we have been able to share and spread a little joy to our customers.
If you would like to help us further we would be so grateful to you in supporting the next chapter of Niche Patisserie at The Black Gate. The funding will be used to help buy new equipment for the bakery/studio which will help build the future for our new apprentices and staff learning from Adam. Front of house is another area we are asking for support with, so you can sit back relax and feel comfortable in this beautiful building and soak up the history around you.
