It costs us £1,200 per year for us to sort and store food at our Cadge Road Community Centre Hub, ready for redistribution to our partner organisations. We also pay part-time staff the living wage for Norwich to sort the food and ensure it is ready for redistribution to the organisations that use it.
In 2020 we are set to facilitate at least 125,000 meals, or 342 meals every day. Based on this:
If you donate £25 you’re ensuring we have the facilities to provide 2,500 meals.
If you donate £17 you're ensuring we can run our entire operation for 1 day.
What We Do
Norwich FoodHub help groups to tackle food poverty in the local community. We do this in 3 steps:
Volunteers collect surplus food from local food retailers that would otherwise go to waste.
Our staff sort and store the food at our Cadge Road Community Centre Hub to get it ready for its next journey
Local charities collect this food and use it to provide meals and services to people experiencing or at risk of food poverty.
In 2019 we saved 40 tonnes of food from being wasted. This allowed our charitable partners to provide more than 96,000 meals to those in need throughout the city, an average of 265 meals every day.
