Hi I'm Glen Dawkins and I set up Dawkins Brewery back in 2009 at our base in Timsbury near Bath. Since then we've opened our Bristol brewery, in Easton - at the heart of the city's brewery sector.
Right from the start we set out to be an honest, local and dedicated brewery, making the best Bristol beer we possibly could - sharing them with the community across the city and in particular through the five Dawkins traditional pubs dotted around the city. We make fresh challenging brews to keep you engaged and the drinking experience exciting!
One of these special brews includes our now widely celebrated Easton Promise. This is proper 'grass roots' brewing, where we've taken your locally grown hops and used them to make an authentic local brew. And for this reason, it's one of our most popular beers!
But now the future of our little local brewery is at risk of grinding to a halt. We've lost about 90% of our business because Covid-19 has forced all pubs to close - and that means we are really struggling to pay our fixed costs including rent and salaries. We're a small, independent microbrewery - all very hands on with only five staff in our brilliant team, who we've kept fully employed throughout the pandemic.
We bottle, cap and label our own bottle conditioned ales by hand, with artwork designed by yours truly! All three Directors have bottled, labelled, packed and delivered our beers over the years, are unpaid and receive no dividends.
It's been so tough since the Covid-19 pandemic began. We're hanging in there, and we've done our very best to make the most of what cash is coming in, but the truth is we're struggling and we need your help. We need you to get involved right now and we want to sell directly to you - our friends, customers and supporters. So that's why we've launched this crowdfunder, to ask you to help give us the cash flow that will keep us afloat!
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
We've put together a load of offers and rewards for you if you join our club. You'll get 10% off with some of our memberships, exclusive behind the scenes access at our brewery where you'll get to meet our Head Brewer - and at the end you'll get the chance to taste some of the finished beers! But it's not just memberships that are up for grabs - there's a whole bunch of ways you can get involved and start to feel part of the company!
Our offers start from as little as £10 (or you can just donate if you want to support us), and you are in effect ‘paying ahead’ for a future benefit which will improve our cash flow and enable us to continue to run the company with full employment, and continue our progress in making new innovative brews such as our new Whiplash 5.3% and Azacca Swift 4%.
All you need to do is check out our Rewards and make a pledge - they are appropriately named after our beers!
For such a small brewery we are proud of our numerous awards over the years, including Bristol Blonde, Ultra, Foresters Black and most recently our East Bristol Session Porter. We have many, many loyal customers who say we make the best beer in Bristol. We think so too, although of course we are biased!
Your kind investment will help us cover our running costs and help 'Save Dawkins'. We can't wait to welcome you back to our brewery when the Covid-19 restrictions have eased, and for what will no doubt be an epic Summer Beer Fest!
With your help and support we'll be able to survive and get through this crisis. If we do manage to keep going, then once we're 'back on our feet', we can start looking at creating an even better brewery and bar, with a restaurant serving food supplied by our old friend Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones, aka The Black Farmer.
If you can't support us by buying a Reward then please feel free to order some of our beer via Dawkins website - available for local and national delivery.
So there's so much to look forward to and we want you to be there with us every step of the way....but only if we can survive this pandemic.
Thank you in advance,
Founder, Dawkins Ales
