Orphans in the Wild is a registered charity set up by Tavistock based Geoff and Vicky Fox whose family run a safari business in Tanzania, to support an isolated rural community which has been ravaged by the effect of HIV/Aids.
Currently there are 51 orphans and vulnerable children in the Igoda Children's Village in Mufindi, a remote part of Tanzania in the southern highlands and a further 35 older children supported in the surrounding villages.
Like many charities “Orphans in the Wild” is suffering a marked downturn in donations. Donations by safari guests have dried up as the safari is currently closed due to Covid 19.
“It’s a desperate situation,” says Geoff. “ if we don’t generate sufficient funding our children will be homeless. These are the silent victims of Covid 19 and they desperately need our support.”
We are looking for a target of £10,000 to provide sufficient funds to keep the children’s village and operational during these challenging times.
Every donation will have a direct impact on the children and young people we are supporting in the Children's Village."
A donation of £15 covers a midday meal for a month, £20 provides a primary school uniform £30 a secondary school uniform and £75 board and lodgings for one term.
£200 would cover the majority of a child’s accommodation and education fees for one year, however any donation is gratefully received.
