Save Our Scene - Manchester & Salford

by Save Our Scene MCR & Salford in Manchester, England, United Kingdom

Whilst we’re aware that the government is offering a range of support for workers during this time, we know that many essential staff members within our community won’t qualify as they may be freelance, on zero-hour contracts, paid cash in hand, or don’t meet other criteria. We also feel that many of these workers need support immediately, and with the uncertainty of governmental measures hanging above all of our heads, we want to support them in any way we can. In short, we see venues and their staff members as essential to the music scene within Manchester & Salford, and we want to raise funds in order to keep this vibrant community thriving.

Venues that we would like to support include: -

Band on the Wall

Eastern Bloc

Soup Kitchen

Stage and Radio

The Peer Hat

+ more*

*we will work closely with these and other independent venues in the coming weeks to distribute funds raised through this crowdfunding campaign to reach those who need it most. Message our Facebook page if you need more info on how to sign up.

Save Our Scene Mission Statement: For anybody not quite yet familiar with the purpose of this group, we are trying to pull together a community to see how we can best support workers in our scene who have been hit most by the indefinite venue closures within Manchester and Salford. This idea came together as we see these venues and all of the staff members essential for what we do, so we want to give back in whatever way we can.

We have heard many stories over the past few days of the financial impact that these closures have had on their staff, and while there have been a number of financial support plans released by the government, we are still unsure on a number of details, for example timelines for these packages to be fully accessible, timelines for funds to be released, criteria, application processes and so on. We all know how difficult some of these bureaucratic blockers can be to get through. We want to try and support in any way we can those who may not be eligible for these support packages or maybe those who simply cannot wait for these measures to be unveiled or accessible.
