To establish an affordable after school club for families at Robinswood and Moat Primary Academies.
Childcare for everyone
We'd like to establish affordable after school facility for families at Robinswood and Moat Primary Academies in order to:
We are raising funds for intial start up costs such as equipment and materials for the room we have allocated for the after-school clubs to take place in.
It is our intention to explore a ‘co-operative approach’ to setting up child care provision, i.e facilitate affordable child care through parents undertaking voluntary work at the after school in return for their child attending free of charge. (With parents who can afford it paying). It is hoped that in doing this we will be able to support parents in gaining necessary work experience to support them when seeking new employment/returning to work. Voluntary work could involve working in sessions or supporting with administration work.
We are also working closely with local arts and cultural organisations with the view of making use of local provision/services to enhance the after-school clubs and provide a wide range of activities and opportunities for the children in our community.
It is our aim to enhance the provision available to our children and raise awareness amongst the community of the activities and opportunities that are available to them with the intention of raising self-esteem and levels of aspiration amongst the pupils in our area.
The Story so far...
Working with partners and local businesses, we have run a community consultation session to establish the need for the child care provision. This was a great success and recieved a very positive response.

Then this term, we held a school taster day, which has shown the support from the local community and how well received the activities have been. We organised circus skills and art activities, this attracted over 25 young people and many parents had fun.

Partners

Robinswood Primary Academy is working with a long-standing friend of the school, Real Ideas Organisation (RIO) and is one of 8 ‘connected schools’ across the country exploring the role of schools as catalysts for community business in their communities. With their support and the help of members of the local business community, we now want to take the ongoing activities to the next level by creating this Child Care Provision.
Why we need help from the Crowd?
We are calling on the Crowd (for the first time) to help us set up the Child Care Provision the funds we raise will be used to;
Please help us make the after school club a reality!
