Homelessness is on the increase and whilst the government has been proactive to try to address the issue during the Covid-19 pandemic by being able to shelter some homeless people, the BIG question is “What happens afterwards?”. Some homeless people are already leaving their places of shelter because they are not getting the necessary support. This is exactly where the service Renova is offering can make the difference. We are in communication with the local council aiming to work in partnership and eradicate homelessness in the Borough. In April, the BBC reported that during this pandemic around 2000 people had been brought in off the streets in England. St Mungo's says it presents an unprecedented opportunity to stop people returning to the streets. Renova agrees!
Every penny of your contribution will enable Renova to carry out the work of rehabilitating the homeless, providing them with a safe home, off the streets, out of the wet and snow and to give them the necessary skills and training to get back on their feet. You can help each resident of the Renova house realise their dream. You help give them a home, you help give them hope, you help them find their place. Click here to find out more about Renova.
We will provide supported housing to previously homeless or those at risk of homelessness so they have the necessary support and stability to overcome their difficulties. Renova comes alongside the client to take an individualised approach to address the client's difficulties and to signpost them to the relevant agencies and services. Clients will receive mentoring and keywork sessions to enable them engage with the necessary services and be empowered to achieve their goals. We will support them to obtain employment by providing them firstly with volunteer placements, before graduating unto apprenticeships/training. Renova is unique in that the project aims to provide support to our clients for as long as 5 years if necessary, to reinforce their stability and resilience.
The Project will draw on the support of volunteers from across the local community to act as befrienders to the clients, thereby reinforcing a community spirit. The clients will have the opportunity to connect with and benefit from the Kerith Hub - which provides a Foodbank, Debt Advice, Recovery Group, Job Club, Life skills course and Rock Cafe. The clients will also be linked to New Hope, Bracknell's drug and alcohol service and the Community Mental Health team.
Hi, I’m Tess Osunkoya, a lawyer with 18 years’ experience of helping families who are vulnerable and going through difficulties and providing them with the necessary support to address their difficulties such as substance misuse, homelessness or poor mental health. I am passionate about advocating for and improving the outcomes of the vulnerable. I was deeply moved and changed when I read about the Dream Center in Los Angeles (one of the world's largest homeless rehabilitation centres). It opened my eyes to the plight of the homeless and how unsafe living on the street really is. It is my hope to help in some way. Let’s do it together!
